I highly recommend you to watch this TED talk by writer 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬 𝐁𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐬 on how comedy can be seen as an 𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 for mass audience. ⁣⁣

In his talk, Bliss tells us that Gabriel García Márquez praised the translators of his work to produce better versions than himself. What a compliment, right? 😝⁣⁣

Lo primero que hago cuando me dispongo a trabajar, después de prepararme unos buenos mates, claro, es revisar el correo electrónico. En general, encuentro pedidos de cotización, algún seguimiento y a veces esos correos que los traductores amamos leer: el de un cliente satisfecho. ⁣

Laura se puso en contacto conmigo para que le tradujera su CV y una propuesta de proyecto de investigación para solicitar una beca postdoctoral 𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 en convenio con el 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐭. Sí, así de grosos son mis clientes 🤓.⁣

El trabajo fue arduo porque contábamos con muy poquitos días para la fecha límite en que Laura tenía que presentar todos los papeles. ¡Pero lo logramos! ⁣

𝐄𝐥 𝟐𝟓 𝐝𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐲𝐨, ¿𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐨́ 𝐮𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨? ⁣

No tengo hijos, así que no tengo idea de cómo serán los actos por el 25 de mayo en las escuelas en estos días, pero cuando yo asistía a la escuela pública en los 90 era un popurrí de 𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘴, 𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘯 𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘢 𝘺 𝘯𝘪ñ𝘰𝘴 𝘵𝘦ñ𝘪𝘥𝘰𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘯 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘣ó𝘯 🤐.⁣

Año tras año se representaba casi la misma escena y ese acto repetitivo, evidentemente, dejó en mi inconsciente de niña poca información sobre 𝘲𝘶é 𝘴𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘢 realmente en esta fecha 🤔. ⁣

Hoy, siento que este día representa el grito de rebelión de aquellos que se soñaron libres. Y pienso que es nuestro deber honrar a esos hombres y mujeres que nos dejaron tamaño regalo: la lucha por la libertad 💪. ⁣
