You know that old saying, failing to plan is planning to fail?​​​​​​​​

Well that also applies to social.​​​​​​​​

That’s why it’s so important to set aside time to plan out your content, whether it’s weekly, fortnightly or monthly. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
The same goes for online community building, which is a key element of any successful social media management strategy.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Because like anything, building an engaged community online is a two-way street (or conversation, rather). ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
That’s why being social on social is more important than ever. But with this being said, it’s always good to have a plan. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
It’s not just about liking lots of random posts or including as many hashtags as possible. It’s about interacting and engaging with purpose. Quality over quantity.​​​​​​​​

I recommend setting aside at least half an hour per week towards leaving meaningful comments on like-minded accounts and businesses in industries that you’re wanting to appeal to.​​​​​​​​

And while social is a marathon & not a sprint, you’ll probably find that the right eyes will soon be on you 👀​​​​​​​​

The power of the email newsletter is so underrated.

And while social is here to stay whether you love it or hate it, email also deserves a place in your brand's digital marketing strategy.

According to a recent study, there are 4 billion daily email users with an astounding 99% of them checking their inbox every day, and some checking 20 times a day.*

Out of those people, 58% of consumers check their email first thing in the morning.*

Hey everyone 👋🏼 So I figured it's about time I officially introduced myself on here 😅

For those that don't know me, my name is Marissa and I created MB Social & Digital just over a year ago.

Its inception was a result of a few things; pursuing what I’m actually passionate about, fulfilling my goal of having my own business and being my own boss, and in the most unlikely way, Covid.

Yes, you read that correctly.

With a surge in people online, the pandemic created a heightened opportunity for me to help out local small businesses with their digital marketing and advertising needs. Every cloud has a silver lining I guess ✨

But in saying that, starting my own biz was something that had been in the mix for a while.

Over the years, I gained a wealth of experience and knowledge working for various advertising & media agencies, and it's something I'll always be thankful for.

But it also highlighted what I wanted and didn’t want out of a career.

Creative freedom, flexibility and work-life balance were definitely on the list of things that I wanted. So here we are.

A little more about me:

💫 In high school I dreamt of being a journalist, but while I was at uni I became more interested in all things marketing and advertising.

💫 I'm tertiary qualified in Marketing, Media and Communications and studied at both the University of Adelaide and UniSA.

💫 When I’m not planning content for clients, you might find me walking along the beach (my happy place), dining out with my favourites or watching Architectural Digest’s celebrity house tours. It’s a current obsession that may or may not have been fuelled by Selling Sunset.

💫 I can’t wait to help more small businesses elevate their online brand presence & am excited for the future ☺️

But the good news is, if you know what your content pillars are, this can save you a lot of time and stress in the long run 🙌🏽 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you're unfamiliar with content pillars, just think of them as 'topic of interest' categories for your audience. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

While these will obviously differ between industries and businesses, it's a good idea to start simple and come up with content that might fall under these banners:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
