So we all know that in order to rank higher on Google you need quality backlinks pointing to your website,

and if you can get them from trusted and reliable sources, then they’re gonna move the needle more and get your ranking much higher. (Than backlinks from less credible sites)

We’ve all seen these news articles and probably question the newsworthiness of them.

Well now I can lift the lid on why you are correct to question them.

You see a lot of news sites will put up newsworthy content to gain credibility. But every now and then they need to sell their soul to get some cash in the door.

This is an example of an article that might seem innocent on the surface to the untrained eye. But it is clearly a paid promotion in the form of this business paying for a powerful backlink from news.com.au.

Now there is nothing wrong with this, and we take advantage of this method all the time for our clients to get them really powerful backlinks.

Because getting a backlink like this absolutely makes a huge difference in boosting their ranking on Google.

For those of you who are fairly new to this, I’ll put some more context around it
If your agency was able to get dozens of back links just like this one for your website, then your website would likely dominate on the Google rankings most niches. Spending money on good quality back links like this will get you higher up Google which will get a hell of a lot more traffic to your website.

Now that you’ve read this, you will never look at a news article the same again 🤣🤣🤣

One thing I’ve been doing for clients the last few years is getting business cards made up for them to capture reviews. Or NFC keyrings

Each review card has their branding and logo on one side and a QR code that takes the customer directly to the review section without the need to type anything in. Or in the case of these really cool keyrings, they just tap their phone against it ant directly opens up the reckew section

“Making it easy” is so important when colectong reviews, and capturing the moment Is equally important to avoid them aimply forgetting

Reviews aren’t just a conversion factor. (Although they massively and directly do correlate with conversion) They’re also a ranking factor as google looks at the location the reviews are left from and then this demonstrates that you are relevant in that area. Think of every point you get a review from as lighting up a heat map of your town or city.

Not only that, google places a lot of emphasis on keywords used in the reviews. So getting a customer to leave a detailed review of your service is much more beneficial than just leaving a blank 5 stars.

So now you can see just how important reviews are.

I try to coach clients that there are 3 important things for getting reviews.

1. Ask in person where possible
2. Make it easy (this is where the QR code on the card is so good, it goes directly to the review section)
3. Incentivise. Have a coffee voucher, a six pack, a branded stubbie holder, a discount. Something just to get that review

This is why I absolutely love focusing on the Google map pack. The statistics are all there the most people are clicking on this section of Google and if you get your business there for a wide radius of your city and you have great reviews then you will absolutely print money.
