Last week, Hughes was proud to support the launch of Flinders Beef at Adelaide's finest supermarkets Foodland Pasadena - a product that reflects a new standard in sustainable agriculture.

Flinders Beef is sourced from cattle raised by HB Rural at Warnertown, near Port Pirie and fed CH4 Global’s Methane Tamer, an innovative feed supplement derived from Asparagopsis, a native seaweed to southern Australia. When incorporated into cattle diets, it can reduce methane emissions by up to 90 per cent.

This launch represents a significant milestone for CH4 Global, completing a uniquely South Australian supply chain: seaweed cultivated at Louth Bay, fed to cattle raised on the edge of the Southern Flinders Ranges, and now available in our most prestigious supermarkets.

It’s a powerful example of how local innovation, agriculture, and retail can come together to deliver more sustainable choices for consumers that helps support local farmers and businesses. You can purchase Flinders Beef at Pasadena and Frewville Foodland.

A true organiser and self-confessed social butterfly, Kerryn is Hughes’ Office Manager. Kerryn is responsible for keeping the office running smoothly, as well as welcoming clients and handling invoicing.

With a corporate career spanning 25 years, Kerryn has worked in various positions and industries from government to large-scale engineering firms, small businesses, and boutique production companies.

This experience enables her to understand our clients' varying needs and to find solutions for them with professionalism and personalisation.

Kerryn’s Bachelor’s degree in Film Studies and early career as a Production Coordinator in corporate video and television commercial production give her a strong interest in Hughes’ video and content offerings and a unique perspective when liaising with clients.

When not in the office, Kerryn can be found planning private events and fundraisers, spectacularly delicious cakes, and impeccably colour-coordinated outfits to match!

We recently partnered with Madderns Patent & Trade Mark Attorneys to deliver a Food and Beverage social media campaign designed to highlight the firm’s deep expertise within the sector.

As part of the campaign, we developed this engaging explainer video to educate food and beverage operators on the areas of their business that may require IP protection.

From concept development and scripting through to storyboarding and animation, Hughes worked closely with the Madderns team to bring the concept to life.

Animation can be a powerful tool to communicate complex ideas in a clear format, digestible (excuse the pun) and memorable. With our in-house capabilities spanning PR, digital and social, graphic design and video, we bring ideas together seamlessly and strategically.

Nothing builds professional relationships quite like a little healthy competition… and nothing keeps you humble like being very confident in an answer, only to get it wrong.

The Hughes team had a fantastic night putting our knowledge to the test at the Plant 4 Bowden trivia night last night, full of laughs, friendly rivalry, and a few questionable answers along the way.

It was a great chance to step away from the desks, get out of the office, and spend some quality time together as a team.

Now it’s your turn… can you out-trivia us?

Last night, Hughes had the pawsome privilege of supporting the Guide Dogs Australia SA/NT graduation.

We celebrated new graduates, retiring Guide Dogs and some very special puppy recruits, who are just 10 to 12 weeks old and already beginning their training journey.

They may be small (and cute), but these pups will go on to play a huge role in supporting people living with low vision, blindness and other specialised needs.

Introducing the newest graduates:
🔹Lars and Lumi – placed with clients
🔹Marley - placed with headspace Mount Barker
🔹Bonnie - working in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia
🔹Scout – set to become a new Facility Dog in a school
🔹Merlin and Ta**us - Guide Dogs SA/NT’s newest Ambassadogs, representing the organisation in the community and raising awareness

The evening also included a heartfelt tribute to beloved Guide Dogs who have passed away and those recently retired, reminding us of the journey, dedication and impact of these incredible companions.

In difficult times, there can be a temptation to close the curtain, hide behind closed doors, and hope the problem will go away – or at least, that people will stop talking about it.

But this couldn’t be further from the truth, and your silence can speak louder than words. It can create distrust among your community, negative speculation, and heightened scrutiny from the media.

Hughes has been helping organisations with their issues and crisis management for decades. We know that timing is everything, and preparation is key.

If you want to feel prepared in the event of an issue or crisis, we not only offer 24/7 support to clients, but also tailored crisis management and issues management training.

Hughes' graphic designer Zoe brought back some valuable insights for the team from the AGDA Annual Design Conference in Sydney.

It was a valuable day featuring panel discussions, practical sessions, and networking.

Zoe found the following particularly valuable:
🌟How AI can be used to frame creative ideas and develop stronger briefs
🌟Why sound is becoming an essential layer of contemporary brand systems, and
🌟How the Triple J brand was reinvigorated with the creation of a reactive, AI-powered custom typeface

Attending events like AGDA Annual is an important part of our ongoing commitment to professional development. It allows us to connect with industry peers, gain insight into the latest thinking across design, and stay across emerging tools, techniques and technologies that continue to shape our design work.

Hughes was engaged by the Commercial Retail Group, owner and operator of Adelaide's finest supermarkets Frewville and Pasadena Foodland, to help bring to life its vision for the future redevelopment of the former Le Cornu site on Anzac Highway, Forestville.

Our work supported two key stages of the project, beginning with the development of the successful Renewal SA EOI submission.

From there, we developed and delivered a stakeholder engagement and media strategy to support community consultation and the project launch.

The result was widespread positive media coverage across broadcast, print and online media.

We’re proud to have supported the project from the early planning stages through to launch, drawing on our government relationships and providing holistic support across communications, design and video.

What is thought leadership, and why is it important?

Hughes consultant Bec says it’s much more than just 'having an opinion'. It means providing credible, useful, and authentic information, and becoming a ‘source of truth’ in your industry.

In a world with so much competition for attention, thought leadership has never been a more valuable tool for establishing a recognisable voice, strengthening reputation, and building credibility.

Find out more on how you can utilise thought leadership to establish your brand narrative and emerge as a leading voice in 2026: https://bit.ly/4lsLZt5.

Hughes recently partnered with Volunteering SA&NT to produce a short film, The Heart of Volunteering, celebrating the extraordinary impact aged care volunteers have in our community.

The film highlights the wonderful work of Nonna's Cucina - Made with Love, Shared With Joy and Co As It SA Inc in supporting older Australians, and features Lou, a dedicated volunteer who has recently celebrated an incredible 15 years of service.

It was a privilege to help bring this heartwarming story to life and showcase the vital role volunteers play in strengthening our community.

It has been a big week for Hughes and Flinders Port Holdings, with quite a bit of media coverage about its recent announcement in the citrus export space.

FPH has been working with Lineage to provide a DAFF plant-registered establishment to cold treat citrus and table grapes prior to export.

For citrus producers in the Riverland and SA table grape growers this means a faster, more convenient and cost-effective option for produce to reach international markets.

With 90% of SA’s citrus and table grape crops exported via sea freight, this is a win for the state’s economic development and creates supply chain solutions for exporters.
