Tip Tuesday - Flip your type
Here’s a simple trick I use when fine tuning type, particularly logotypes and short headlines.
Flip it upside down.
When you stop reading the words, you start seeing the shapes and spaces between the characters. Those little gaps and inconsistencies become much easier to see.
It’s not a rule, and I’m certainly not suggesting you flip an entire paragraph upside down to kern it. 😂 For body copy, I trust my eye and use whatever settings work best for the design.
But when you’re obsessing over a logotype and trying to get every little detail right, it’s a handy trick to have.
