Do you own a lot of clothes… but still feel like you don’t have many outfits?

This is one of the most common wardrobe frustrations I see.

It usually isn’t because you need more clothes. It’s because the pieces you own don’t work together easily.

You may have plenty of lovely individual items, but if they don’t connect through colour, shape, lifestyle or styling, you can find yourself in that familiar “wardrobe full of clothes and nothing to wear” situation.

A wardrobe that works isn’t necessarily a large wardrobe.

It’s a wardrobe where the pieces cooperate with one another, suit your real lifestyle, not your fantasy one, and give you plenty of ways to get dressed.

And that takes some planning!

So, be honest…

Do you have a lot of clothes, but not a lot of outfits?

After a long season of beige, red has entered the room.

I’m talking about true, clear, classic red. Energetic, confident and impossible to ignore.

We’re seeing it in beautiful knits, short jackets, small handbags, classic sneakers and flashes of red socks.

I think part of the reason it feels so appealing right now is that we’ve had such a long stretch of head-to-toe neutral dressing. Red brings a burst of energy without asking us to reinvent our entire wardrobe.

For some people, red is a signature. It has always been part of how they express themselves.

Others enjoy it when fashion gives them a beautiful reason to wear it.

Then there are those of us who may never become fully fledged red devotees, but are very happy to flirt with it through small pops, such as a handbag, sneakers, socks or a sheer red lipstick.

I’m in the latter camp, but even I am finding this clear, classic red rather difficult to resist.

Are you a red devotee, red curious, or happily sitting this one out?

It’s been a more than a minute since we’ve seen true, classic red make such a strong return.

And right now, it is seriously popping.

More on this very soon, because I have a theory… And I can’t wait to share it with you.

Are you a lover of red?

Anyone who knows me knows I love a blazer…

I love the way a blazer can add warmth, bring structure to an outfit and elevate even the most relaxed pieces. I wear them with dresses, skirts, jeans and soft pants to create everything from relaxed to edgy outfits, as well as with tailored pants in corporate settings.

A little tip when purchasing a blazer, or a suit, is to think beyond the office. If you wear blazers for work, choose styles you can also repurpose into your off-duty wardrobe.

Here, I’ve paired a chocolate blazer with dark denim, a soft pink shirt and leopard heels. The blazer gives the outfit shape and polish, while the denim and accessories keep it modern and very me.

The best pieces in your wardrobe work hard.

I’m a great believer in letting something feel special for its first few outings.

But after that, I want it to truly earn its place in my wardrobe.

A beautiful piece becomes far more valuable when it can move between different areas of your lifestyle, rather than waiting around for another invitation.

Do you have a dressier piece you love, but rarely wear?

A wardrobe doesn’t need to be huge to work well.

And if I’m honest, I’m not a wardrobe minimalist. I love beautiful pieces, and I love having options.

But after working with thousands of clients and their wardrobes over the years, I can tell you this: the wardrobes that work hardest are the ones that have been thoughtfully planned, with a considered mix of pieces that suit the person and the life they actually live.

It’s the mix that makes getting dressed easier.

What do you think? Agree or disagree?

I see this all the time.

A wardrobe full of, say... black pants, striped tops, floral dresses, white shirts, jeans, jackets, shoes, or whatever that repeat piece happens to be.

And that can be absolutely fine. If those pieces truly light you up, suit your lifestyle and reflect a strong and consistent signature style, keep going.

But if your wardrobe is starting to feel a little boring, flat or uninspiring, it might be time to look outside that familiar comfort zone.

Not wildly outside it. Just enough to bring in some freshness.

What’s the piece you tend to buy over and over?

My free Style Confidence guide has just had an update, and I’m so pleased with how it has come together.

If you’ve ever felt unsure about what really suits you, this guide is a great place to start. It covers two of the biggest foundations I work on with clients: colour confidence and body confidence. Inside, I walk you through the principles that help you understand which colours flatter you, how proportion works, and how to choose clothes that feel more like you.

The aim is simple: to help make getting dressed feel easier, clearer and more enjoyable.

Let’s talk about the clothes you own but don’t actually wear.

When I’m working with a client in her wardrobe, these pieces almost always show up. They’re not necessarily terrible pieces either. In fact, some are beautiful, some fit perfectly, and some are pieces my client genuinely likes.

But for some reason, they still don’t make it into an outfit.

And that’s where the real Wardrobe Edit begins.

Unworn clothes usually tell us something. They can show us where your lifestyle has changed, where your personal style has moved on, where a piece needs to be styled differently, or where it might be time to move something on.

A good Wardrobe Edit is not simply about decluttering. It’s about making sense of what you already own, so getting dressed feels easier and more effortless.

If your wardrobe is full of pieces you like, but don’t actually wear, this might be exactly what we need to work through together.

The outfit on the left is dressed. It’s okay: simple knit, black pants and easy flats.

The outfit on the right shows what happens when the finishing pieces are considered: a jacket, a belt, jewellery, a bag, a different shoe and a little attention to proportion.

Nothing complicated. Just small styling choices that make the outfit feel more polished, more complete and more intentional.
