I always love shopping with the gorgeous Shoba every 2-3 years when it's time to refresh her wardrobe with beautiful, suitable pieces for her professional role helping and serving so many people in need.

Being teeny tiny, shopping can certainly have its challenges! Clothing is so often oversized these days, which can completely swamp a petite frame. Fortunately, after a successful pre-shop, we found some fabulous pieces in Shoba's warm, deep Exotic palette that worked beautifully for her petite 'A' shape.

The garments needed to have minimal or very small detail and finish around her hip bone to maintain balance and avoid making her legs appear shorter. One of Shoba's goals was to bring more colour into her wardrobe rather than relying solely on neutrals, so I made that a priority during her pre-shop.

I was thrilled to discover some gorgeous Exotic colours in pinks, reds and oranges that work beautifully with her warm, deep neutrals, adding personality and vibrancy while still remaining incredibly versatile.

The result is a collection of classic, hardworking pieces that will mix and match effortlessly throughout winter and well into spring, creating numerous outfit combinations and capsule wardrobes.

Thank you, Shoba. As always, you were an absolute delight to shop with. You look amazing in every outfit and now have plenty of beautiful options to serve you for many seasons & work back with current pieces too!

It's always so exciting for me as a stylist when I step into a client's wardrobe following their Colour & Style Session and discover they've already been naturally gravitating towards many of the right colours for them — just like this fabulous client recently.

It turns out that many of the colours she loves and wears regularly belong to her beautiful palette, the cool, deep and soft Sophisticated group. I love seeing this because it often means a client has been intuitively drawn to colours that make them look and feel their best.

What I don't see very often though... is a wardrobe this small lol! And this is exactly why many clients book a Wardrobe Overhaul with me.

The goals for every wardrobe are completely individual. Some clients need a major clear-out, some need help understanding what suits them, while others simply need to fill the gaps and create more outfit combinations.

For this lovely client, we're looking for more of the same. She's already doing a wonderful job of purchasing pieces she loves that also suit both her colouring and personal style. However, like so many of my clients, she's juggling multiple roles — wife, mum, professional and highly successful in a career where she spends her days helping others.

Now it's my turn to help her.

So this weekend I'll be heading out on a pre-shop mission to source some fabulous signature pieces that will work seamlessly with her existing wardrobe and make getting dressed even easier.

Tell me... how is your wardrobe faring as we head into winter? Are you feeling organised and ready, or are there a few gaps that need filling?

More Winter Layering Tips...

As autumn slips away and we welcome another beautiful winter, layering suddenly becomes everyone's best friend.

While summer dressing is quick, easy and uncomplicated, winter allows us to utilise so much more of our wardrobe. We get to play with textures, colours, accessories and multiple garments to create interesting outfits while staying beautifully warm. If you're a bit of a cold frog like me, it's not unusual to find me wearing three or even four layers depending on where I'm headed!

One of my winter essentials is fine merino wool. I practically live in wool socks and wool singlets throughout the cooler months. Merino provides wonderful warmth without excessive bulk and is naturally breathable, moisture-wicking and resistant to odour. It keeps you comfortable and warm even if it becomes damp.

For those whose skin doesn't tolerate wool, modal is a fabulous alternative. Made from beech tree pulp, modal is incredibly soft, breathable and comfortable against the skin. It drapes beautifully, resists pilling and creasing, and works brilliantly as a lightweight base layer.

My Favourite Layering Tips For Winter

• Start with a fitted base layer. Keeping the first layer close to the body avoids unnecessary bulk and helps trap warmth where you need it most.

• Be mindful of your proportions. If your first layer is much longer than your second layer, it can create an unflattering horizontal line. A simple tuck can often solve the problem while adding extra warmth.

• Pay attention to where your layers finish. Avoid ending garments at the widest part of your body if it's an area you'd rather not draw attention to.

• Remember that thick fabrics add visual weight. Chunky knits, boucle and heavy textures can look fabulous, but they will naturally add more volume to your frame.

• Vests, gilets, scarves, wraps and lightweight cardigans are wonderful layering pieces. They provide warmth without overwhelming your outfit and are easy to leave on indoors.

• Think about what happens when layers come off. Great layering allows you to adjust throughout the day while still looking polished and put together.

• Lighter fabrics can work beautifully underneath heavier pieces. A sheer blouse or lightweight top beneath knitwear often creates warmth without feeling bulky or restrictive.

• Have fun with colour. Winter doesn't need to mean head-to-toe black. Combining colours throughout your layers can add personality and interest to your outfit.

• If you prefer a more minimalist look, try a monochromatic colour scheme using different textures. This creates sophistication and depth while avoiding visual bulk.

• Finish with a beautiful coat or blazer. The final layer often determines the overall feel of the outfit. A structured blazer or classic coat instantly elevates your look and is perfect for meetings, events or any occasion where you want to feel a little more polished.

The secret to successful winter layering isn't simply adding more clothes—it's choosing each layer thoughtfully, so you stay warm, comfortable and stylish all season long.

Another beautiful 'Mysterious' client - exciting for me as I've had quite a few lately!
It's a stunning palette & they shine in black - the best out of the 9 cool colour groups along with the 'Dramatic' palette!
As you can see, the stunningly beautiful Jaimee (cool, deep & clear) is radiating in her true Mysterious colours - skin, hair & eye enhancing signature colours! She has the best of both worlds being med-high value contrast & med colour contrast. Jaimee looks amazing in dark & light neutrals with two colours - see pic 3 for the example.
My makeup enhances her natural beauty also, not that she needs any help there.
Thanks for coming beautiful young lady, look forward to your colour debrief this week 🥰

*STYLE TREND TUESDAY*

Other than investing in a fabulous new winter jacket, layering would have to be one of the smartest & most stylish ways to dress throughout the cooler months ahead.

Layering not only keeps you beautifully warm, but when done correctly, it can become one of your very best looks. The secret is learning how to layer without looking overwhelmed or swamped in fabric, colour or pattern. You still want shape, balance and personality in your outfits while staying deliciously warm. And of course, you also want to look fabulous once you start peeling layers off throughout the day!

Start With Your Base Layer…

Your base layer is incredibly important and ideally should be made from wool. Wool is naturally breathable, temperature regulating and wonderfully resistant to odour, making it one of the best fabrics for winter dressing. It also keeps you warm even if it becomes damp and has far less static than many synthetic fabrics.

If regular wool feels too itchy against your skin, fine merino wool is a much softer and more delicate option. And for those who still struggle with wool sensitivities like many of my clients, a cotton or rayon base layer can work beautifully underneath your garments while still keeping you comfortable.

The Second Layer…

Your second layer is where things become more interesting because this is often the piece that remains on display indoors. A soft long sleeve tee in merino wool can become one of the hardest working pieces in your winter wardrobe. Fine layers can even be doubled for extra warmth without adding bulk.

This layer can sit beautifully underneath shirts, jackets, blazers, coats, vests, cardigans, tunics or dresses. But most importantly, make sure this second layer actually suits you. It should be in a flattering colour, shape and style that you genuinely love wearing — because chances are, this may become the star of the outfit once outer layers come off.

If the outfit feels a little plain, simply add personality with a colourful scarf, statement necklace or soft shawl. I personally love my puffer vests in winter as it adds texture and interest without becoming too heavy indoors — and it’s a fabulous alternative to a scarf for a change.

The Outer Layer…

This is where your outfit truly comes together. Your winter coat, cape, blazer or jacket should complement the entire look while adding warmth, structure and style. Choose pieces you absolutely adore and can’t wait to wear.

One beautiful quality winter jacket can completely transform your wardrobe for years to come. In fact, some of my favourite winter outfits are built around the outer layer itself becoming the hero piece. I often wear a gorgeous wool jacket with only a simple cami underneath so I can comfortably keep it on indoors all day.

The key to successful layering is making every layer count — practical, flattering, warm and beautifully you!!

There was absolutely nothing boring about what I uncovered on my pre-shop for this gorgeous client over the weekend! The warm, deep & clear Opulent Anita was an absolute joy to shop with.

A few months ago we began with her Colour & Style Session, followed by her Wardrobe Session, and then finished with a very well-deserved shopping trip to build a wardrobe that will serve her beautifully for many years to come — primarily for her work environment, but also with several versatile pieces that will flow effortlessly into her weekend wardrobe as well. And we didn't forget fabulous shoes either 👌🥰

By the end of the day, I think we had created at least three fabulous capsule wardrobes! One of my favourite finds was a stunning Single Breasted Short Trench Coat — the kind of timeless piece that instantly elevates almost anything it’s worn with. These are the powerful key items that truly take a wardrobe to another level and continue working hard season after season.

While we focused on building a strong foundation of deep Opulent neutrals, we certainly didn’t forget to bring in plenty of those rich, clear Opulent colours as well — adding vibrancy, personality and that beautiful “zing” that has Anita absolutely glowing.

Thank you for being such a dream to work with Anita. You look incredible in every one of your beautiful new outfits!
