Over the past week we have received two pieces of feedback regarding posts we have shared in local community groups.

The first was from a group admin reminding me of their once-per-week business posting rule. Completely fair. I appreciated the message and have adjusted accordingly.

The second was less constructive; an anonymous message via our website suggesting we stop posting in certain non-Adelaide groups, expressed in a way that wasn’t particularly respectful. I am sure they are frustrated, but it just lessens the impact of their message.

So I want to clarify something.

The intention behind our posts is not aggressive marketing. We deliberately avoid links, sales pitches, or “contact us now” messaging. The goal is simply to share small, practical digital marketing insights that may help local business owners think more strategically.

That said, relevance matters.

If a group feels that this type of content isn’t appropriate or useful for their members, I’m more than happy to step back. Just send a respectful message and I’ll remove myself from posting there.

We all try to teach our kids about respectful communication online. I believe the same standards apply to adults.

If something doesn’t align, a direct and polite conversation goes a long way.

It’s Not About Clicks — It’s About Conversions

Many businesses obsess over traffic numbers.

More clicks.
More impressions.
More reach.

But clicks don’t always convert that traffic, trust does.

Every digital touchpoint shapes how someone feels about working with you:

• Do you have signals they can trust you (testimonials, awards etc.)
• Is your message clear and references their pain points?
• Is your navigation intuitive with a fast load speed?
• Do your testimonials sit near decision points?

Signals, core message, speed, and clarity communicate professionalism long before your first conversation begins.

Quick test:
If someone visited your site today for the first time, would they have enough information to feel confident to enquire or would they hesitate?

User trust is rarely accidental. It’s engineered.

What Your Website Says in 3 Seconds Determines the Sale

When someone lands on your homepage, they’re scanning for:

• Who you help
• What you do
• Where you operate
• What the next step is

If they can’t answer those instantly, they leave.

Clarity beats creativity every time.

Open your homepage right now and ask:

Does it clearly say what I do?
Does it say who I do it for?
Does it say where I operate?
Can I see the next step to get in contact without scrolling?

If any of those are unclear, that’s friction.

The Most Dangerous Phrase in Business: “Our Website’s Fine.”

Most websites feel “fine” because nothing looks broken.

But when we measure properly, we look at:

• Page load speed across devices
• Conversion rate by traffic source
• Scroll depth and drop-off points
• Contact form abandonment
• Mobile usability friction

A site can look polished and still leak 30–40% of potential enquiries due to structural inefficiencies.

Performance isn’t assumed. It’s verified.

Quick test:
When did you last check your website speed on Pingdom or GTmetrix?

Do you know your actual conversion rate?

Or are you relying on how it “feels”?

Kapunda’s Prince of Wales Hotel is now easier to find than ever.

If you’ve searched online for a pub in the area recently, you may have noticed something. The Prince of Wales in Kapunda is now showing up on page one of Google for over 140 search terms in less than 2 months.

Not bad for a local pub that started in 1858!

The team at The Prince of Wales Hotel have always been known for:

- Great food nights
- Entertainment & Socials
- Drive-through coffee
- Strong community involvement

But until recently, if someone from the Barossa or beyond searched online for a great night out in Kapunda, they may not have found them.

Now they are!

The new website gives locals and visitors a clear place to:

✔️ See what’s on
✔️ Check out food and events
✔️ Learn about the history and the people behind it
✔️ Plan their visit before they even arrive

It’s fast, mobile-friendly, and built to showcase everything that makes The Prince such an important part of the Kapunda community.

If you haven’t seen it yet, take a look:

Well done to Troy, Peta, and the whole Prince team. A special thanks also to Shari Brewer from Allsorts Copy Writing for some amazing content to help build out the website!

This simple test for your business website works everytime!

When someone lands on your homepage, they’re instantly asking:
“Am I in the right place?”

You Have 3 Seconds to Earn a Click or Lose It

If your website doesn’t answer that question within 3 seconds, they leave, no matter how beautiful the design is.

Strong websites lead with clarity first, creativity second. Visitors should know immediately:
✅ Who you are
✅ What you do
✅ Why it matters to them

So with fresh eyes, click your site and see if it cover those 3 key questions above through text, image and vibe (colours, layout etc.). If it doesn't nail them, then you know you need it fixed!
