Well it’s been a minute (okay… closer to 13 months 😅), so I thought it was about time I shared some recent work. I’ve been doing a lot of white-labelling lately, so Slinkylinks projects are starting to feel like rare diamonds in the wild! 💎

Leeann reached out to me all the way from Hobart, Tasmania 🥶 to build a new website for her.

The goal of this project was to honour Leeann’s 25+ years in the wellness industry in Hobart by retaining her well-recognised logo, while also starting to communicate the new direction of her business offerings. We kept the original logo but refreshed it with a new colour palette, giving the brand a modern lift. I’m in love with this mix of fresh greens and deeper teals and blues — it perfectly reflects growth, flow, and progression, with a subtle nod to the Tassie wilderness.

I also suggested to Leeann that she invest in a professional photo shoot and provided a creative brief to assist the photographer with artistic direction. The final images are perfection and sit beautifully within the websites wireframe.

Susan has worked in retail for as long as I have known her and she is the queen of merchandising! Making all the things look coordinated and cohesive. So I knew when Susan approached me about building her site for her startup Shorelines Collection I had to create something bespoke, brilliant and balanced... 🏊‍♂️ Cannonvale Cannons Sponsorship Proposal 🏊‍♂️

If you want to attract the right sponsors that not only have the surplus funds but also the same brand ethics as you, then you need a proposal with impact and a strong focus on your organisations values.

The Cannonvale Cannons Swimming Club is a super tight group of active healthy kids and dedicated parents (think 5:15am training sessions ⏰) all pulled together by a very passionate committee.

Our family have only been involved with the club for 12 months but I imagine we will be a part of it for some time and was therefore happy to put my hand up to reimagine and redesign their sponsorship proposal document to ensure the continued growth and success of the Cannons 💥

EVOLVE 🪰 A SPACE FOR CHANGE

I really got to push the traditional boundaries with this project. A dark theme website with excessive negative space and change of text alignment throughout. The end result is modern, functional and in my opinion delightful to scroll through.

It also had to be super user friendly for my very-bendy-not-so-techy client who will be adding new events to the backend on a weekly basis. Cue my polite bow out of this task 🙇‍♀️ your Modern Events Calendar is a dream.

Most importantly it had to be super responsive for students wanting to check in and keep up to date with what’s happening at the studio. I can’t tell you how impressed I am with the growth of the offerings since launching only a few weeks ago.

Airlie Beach Festival of Music is here 💃🏼🎸🎤🎷🎺🎻🪕🎹

The ticket office opens tomorrow and for the first time in festival history electronic ticketing is making its debut. What an achievement it has been to migrate a laborious manual offline system to a complete online booking and checking in platform 🎟 🎟🎟🎟🎟🎟🎟🎟🎟

There’s still tickets left but I’ll give you the red hot tip, the final few are selling quick.

My thoughts are with the entire crew this weekend who bring this show together, months of hard work all come into play over a very full 72+ hours.

From the outside this looks like a super pretty lightweight website, but boy does it pack some heavyweight functionality 👊🏼

Yoga class schedule and online bookings, teacher training scheduling and online bookings, monthly subscriptions for both in person and livestream classes, free introductory class download for new visitors and oh, also a Vimeo on-demand class catalogue to buy or rent from!

Major addition to website 💁🏻‍♀️ Now selling her personally curated collection of cosmetics online 🙌🏼 I have worked with for many years and I was so excited when she finally said she was ready to make the move to e-commerce. Lauriely is one of those dream clients who is always thinking of her next move and is willing to do the work to get there. While I have been busy setting up the website store, she has been busy in the background setting up her Facebook and insta stores and connecting them to the website for a seamless shopping experience 🛍

Fresh new logo for a well respected and much loved tourist attraction in the Whitsunday’s 🐊

There is so much more to this wildlife farm than crocs (note my personal fave 🐨) but being a major draw card and a large part of the families history it formed the basis of the illustration.

Did you know crocodiles have three eyelids? I have been day dreaming about how to animate the logo ever since 🤔

Here’s a little story about the importance of selecting a well coded and supported Wordpress theme for your website.

We hadn’t touched Whitsunday Fishing Charters website for almost three years 😱 No edits, no updates, no scans 😱

Despite this the website still ticked on without interruption. That is until I tried to login a few days ago to update their rates. Then it was 500 error codes all round and the arduous task of troubleshooting to regain access to the WP Dashboard. The issues were identified, resolved, access granted (ta-da 💁🏻‍♀️) and then the theme was updated from version 1.2 to version 3.11. Now let me tell you that’s a whole lot of theme changes to be making in one update! A few things broke along the way but were easily restored and by the end of the project the client ended up with what I would say is a brand new website with enhanced header and footers, increased responsiveness to mobile devices and cleaner code for Googles increasingly demanding Core Web Vitals.

Now despite the setbacks along the way, which could have been avoided by quarterly updates to the website (but that’s an entirely different story for another post) we ended up with not only updated rates but an entirely refreshed website thanks to the quality of the theme chosen for this website way back in 2015.
