The new year brings all sorts of declarations and resolutions – many of which get abandoned just a few weeks (or days) into January...

The most common New Year’s resolution I’ve seen lately is people resolving to do 75 Hard – a program designed to completely change your body and develop some serious grit.

It’s a tough program, but worth it, and it got me thinking: what if we did a 75 Hard for business owners? 🤷🏼‍♀️

75 business days to completely change your business, and develop systems that WORK.

So I've created a set of challenging - but achievable - rules I'm going to follow for 75 business days. Keen to join me??

I've talked before about how a rising tide lifts all boats, but I’ve never seen this concept depicted so beautifully as I did with the Barbie Movie.

In business, it can feel like you’re constantly competing against others in your industry… for clients, for attention on socials, for that ‘best in town’ reputation.

But in Barbie World? EVERYONE is welcome - as they are.
We don’t see the Barbies competing!

In Episode 121 of the Boom Your Biz Podcast, I'm sharing my top four takeaways from the film, and how they apply to branding, advertising and social media.

Have a listen, and let me know which ones you'll be implementing in YOUR business marketing going forward!

You know I love a good pop culture moment, and it's safe to say that 2023 has been the 💗 Year of Barbie 💗

We loved the film for its poignant take on modern day feminism, but did you pick up on the absolute marketing MASTERCLASS the Barbie juggernaut provided?

If not, fear not - I've got you covered.

In Episode 121 of the Boom Your Biz podcast, I share four lessons that EVERY business owner can take away from the film, and the simple things that Barbie's marketing team did right.

It takes something pretty special for a newcomer to achieve longevity in ANY industry, particularly when it comes to new social media platforms.

There's not much we haven't seen before, so it was hardly surprising that Threads didn't take off.

No matter what industry you're in, there are lessons to learn (or re-learn) from the spectacular flop that was Threads.

In Episode 120 of the Boom Your Biz podcast, I talk about:

🔹 WHY Threads was invented in the first place
🔹 The gap in the market it aimed to fill
🔹 Why I think it didn’t live up to the hype, and
🔹 What to do if you want to stay on the platform a little longer, just in case it DOES end up taking off in future.

How often do you pick up your phone and open up your social media platform of choice... without even thinking about what you're doing?

Our social media consumption habits are powerful, so for a new platform to take us away from our old habits, it has to stand out from what we know and love.

That's why we were so excited about Threads - a platform designed to take the place of Twitter (or X, as it's now known).

So, what went wrong? How did Threads unravel, and unravel SO quickly?
I discuss this in Episode 120 of the Boom Your Biz Podcast.

Inspiration can be found everywhere, if you care to look for it, and it’s no secret that one of my biggest business inspirations is none other than Taylor Swift.

In Episode 119 of the Boom Your Biz podcast, I share the reasons behind my business name change, and how it all started when Taylor Swift decided to re-record all her old albums.

I’ve learned that the comeback is always bigger and better than the setback - and if things aren't feeling quite right in your business, you ALWAYS have the power to make a change.

Times are tough, and nobody’s feeling the pinch more than small businesses.

So I get worried when I see small businesses relying on discounts and promotions as their sole means of getting new clients - and attempting to retain existing ones.

It’s easy for me to say “don’t discount your prices, increase your value”, but I need you to understand this: as soon as you discount your product or service, that discounted price becomes what your customers think it’s worth.

The discount is not a ‘one-time’ event, it’s your NEW PRICE POINT.

So what do you do, if you’re not going to stay on the promo merry-go-round?

In Episode 118 of the Boom Your Biz podcast, I’m talking about:
💥 What endless discounts and promos will do to the perception of your brand;
💥 What true value IS, and the questions you can ask yourself to get clear on your value; and
💥 Why knowing YOUR business’ point of difference is the key to effective marketing, without discounts.

In this episode I’ll take you through:
⭐️ Why reviews carry so much weight,

Whenever we come across service-based businesses that do marketing differently, we like to examine what makes them stand out above their competitors.

And occasionally, we get really lucky and get to talk to the creative minds behind these businesses!

Rhyley and Kaity from Huntsman Recruiting sat down with Sonya to chat about what they did to stand out in their industry, their love of all things video content, and shared their top tips for attracting the cream of the crop when you’re advertising a role online.
