As a child, when I was in and out of hospital, struggling at school and found it hard to focus, someone asked their son to cheer me up by picking me up in one of my all time favourite cars at the time: a Nissan Skyline R33.
It was so cool.
We did a few laps of Hobartville and I was inspired.
I was inspired to one day give back, pay it forward and help more kids and young people get inspired.
All by a single act of generosity.
Today, you could inspire someone.
A simple random act of kindness or generosity could help them see again, to get perspective.
I remember walking through Westmead Hospital as a child and seeing other kids, sick, in worse situations than me.
I developed a sense of humour and covered up my life with jokes, mucking around and being silly, because it was good medicine and it distracted at the time.
But I could also see the sense of joy, freedom and weightless-ness it gave to others.
It became my life mission at that age and into high school to just focus on making people laugh.
Seeing every situation as an opportunity to make a joke, to lighten the mood up.
Ofcourse on the surface, this was distracting others.
But it came from a place of deep pain and seeing others experiencing such loss at a young age.
Right now, please take a moment to think of the kids and children right now in hospital.
Think about your life perhaps, pray for them and or go and help someone today.
Be the change you wish to see in the world.
