Accessibility isn’t a “nice to have” on modern websites it’s a growth lever.
When you design for everyone, you don’t just do the right thing… you boost your business.
©️ 1 in 5 Australians live with a disability. If your site isn’t accessible, you’re excluding 20% of your potential audience from the jump.
©️ Accessibility improves SEO. Google prioritises sites with clean structure, proper semantics, keyboard-friendly navigation, alt text and readable content.
©️ If Google can “green light” your site easily, it ranks better.
©️ Better UX = more conversions. Clear content, higher contrast, simpler flows and predictable layouts don’t just help users with accessibility needs, they make your site easier for everyone to use.
Also accessibility reduces LEGAL RISK.
Target has faced two major lawsuits over inaccessible websites, a landmark case in 2006 which cost them $6M and forced a complete rebuild! and another in 2023 that is still ongoing.
Poor accessibility is no longer defendable, especially for enterprise brands. Most businesses don’t realise they’re sitting on accessibility debt until someone points it out or a complaint lands... don't get caught out.
