Today is a massive milestone!

It’s officially 20 years since I started my own design business.
It’s kind of snuck up on me, to be honest.

There’s no big party or flashy celebration… but I have taken a moment to reflect.

And you know what?
I feel incredibly grateful and still just as passionate as when I first began.

Over the years, the tools have changed, trends have come and gone, and my own style and strategy have definitely evolved, both as a designer and a business owner.

But the core of what I love hasn’t changed: Helping people bring their brand to life with clarity, purpose, and a bit of creative spark.

Back when I started, I was working from my home study, juggling client meetings, raising a young family, and figuring it all out as I went.

Now, 20 years later, this business and my passion for design feels stronger than ever.

I’m working with aligned clients, collaborating with inspiring people, and constantly learning and growing.

The truth is design is never just about making something look good. It’s about solving problems. It’s about building connection. It’s about showing up with intention and creativity, every single day

And I’m so proud of what I’ve built and super excited for whatever comes next.

So if you’re just starting out or feeling disillusioned, take it from someone 20 years in:
you CAN keep evolving
you CAN keep enjoying it
you CAN keep doing work that matters and makes a real difference...on YOUR terms!

There’s a sign on my office wall that says, “A day without laughter is a day wasted."

It’s been with me for years — and it’s more than just a cute quote. It reminds me, especially in the middle of a full workweek, to stay light, stay open, and stay human.

The most meaningful creativity doesn’t always come from pushing harder.

It comes from pausing to smile, resetting the energy, and remembering why we do what we do.

Whether I’m deep in a branding development, strategy or designing visuals, the best ideas never come from stress or seriousness.

Motivation arrives when there's space — and often, a bit of joy!

What Do Customers Really Want?
HINT: It Might Not Be What You Think!

In branding and design, we often pour creativity into crafting the “perfect” product or experience. But here’s the twist: what we think is perfect, isn’t always what customers truly want. Sometimes, they don’t follow the polished pathways we’ve designed for them. They find shortcuts—unexpected ways to engage with a product or service.

So, what can we learn from this? A lot, actually. Those shortcuts are gold. They’re behavioural insights that reveal the true desires of your customers. By paying attention to how they navigate your brand, we can refine our design, creating seamless experiences that align with their natural behaviours.

Instead of forcing them down paths we’ve imagined, we can pave over the shortcuts they already prefer. This is where research and evaluation come into play—understanding their habits, choices, and needs is key to improving our service or product offering.

Yes, creativity is at the heart of design, but strategic creativity is even better. Picking the right pathways and paving them over isn’t cutting corners—it’s cutting straight to customer satisfaction.

💡 Are You Proud of the Brand You Represent?

If you’re not genuinely proud of the brand you represent, it shows. Whether you’re a CEO, business leader, or team member, your enthusiasm (or lack thereof) trickles down to every interaction, from client meetings to internal discussions. So, ask yourself: does your brand still excite you, or have you fallen into a state of brand lethargy?

As a leader, it’s crucial to inspire your team to feel the same pride and connection to the brand. But how do you get everyone on board?

1️⃣ Reconnect with Your Brand’s Mission
If you or your team feel disconnected, it might be time to revisit your brand’s purpose and values. Are they still relevant? Do they reflect your current business direction? A little realignment could be all you need to reignite passion.

2️⃣ Involve Your Team in the Brand Story
Make sure your staff understands and feels connected to the brand. Share its journey, wins, and even challenges. When your team feels part of the story, they become natural brand ambassadors.

3️⃣ Is It Time for a Refresh?
