We are proud to announce our nominee, Teresa Reed of The Forgotten Women has been named a finalist in the Innovation category for the 2025 Queensland Philanthropy Awards.

Teresa was inspired to create The Forgotten Women when her wife began offering haircuts to the homeless. That altruistic act led to creating a charity dedicated to tackling the fastest growing homeless population in Australia - women over 55.

Since founding The Forgotten Women in 2018, Teresa:
❤ Provides housing for homeless women over 55
❤ Provides rental top-ups for at-risk women, so they can stay in their homes and communities
❤ Acts as a voice for the many women who cannot share their stories due to safety concerns and stigma
❤ Holds the annual Live Like Her Challenge, raising funds and awareness
❤ Breaks down stigma - not just among the general public, but the women themselves who are often reluctant to identify as homeless or living in poverty

Teresa's impact is immense, supporting a vulnerable, hidden group too easily dismissed and invisible.

The announcement of a new National Aquatic Centre was met with cheers from the KDPR office with KDPR Director, Kristin Devitt previously delivering a project as Strategic Communications Advisor to Swimming Australia.

A highlight of Kristin’s role was developing a legacy impact strategy, including call to action for the State Government to invest in legacy infrastructure for swimming.
