Here's the truth 👉 You can have all the time in the world, all the stars can align and you might STILL not feel energetically “ready” to show up for your business.

A big part of this for so many of us is our need for perfection. 😬 I'm guilty of this too, recovering perfectionist here! 🙋‍♀️

Last year I had an 'AHA!' moment — I’ve been overthinking and overdoing things in my business for as long as I can remember...

While not particularly productive to overthink every aspect of your business, it’s do-able when you have boundless time and energy. 🤷‍♀️

But, when you have major responsibilities and time constraints in life? Well, then things start to unravel. 🧵

I realise now, it's time to stop waiting for perfection. To stop over-complicating things.

For me, this manifests in going to deep with something then getting overwhelmed and wanting to give up or put the project or intention or to put it hold…for months.

I don't want to take action without thinking, but I also don't want to be in my own way any longer.

I've been wondering: How can I invite in more balance between my feminine and my masculine energy?

A balance of the dreaming and intention to gain clarity, and the doing and creation to move the needle?

This is a HUGE part of my guiding light this year for not only myself, but my clients and students too.

It’s somewhat of a radical thought because there are definitely a lot of moving parts to bringing your soulful branding and website to life. These moving parts deserve time and space to feel out!

But I think there's a sweet spot. And in that sweet spot lives not simply taking messy action, but messy, INTENTIONAL action.

I’ve spent YEARS investigating this, and I feel like this is the secret sauce to 'feeling ready.'

Find clarity first, seek guidance and stop overthinking!

Want to know a secret? Sometimes even I feel scared to show up as my most authentic self. 😅

Do you ever do that thing where you film a video for your business, watch it back and start critiquing yourself?

😅 My voice is annoying
😅 My hair is looking grey in the roots… I need to get to the hairdresser!
😅 I’m getting so old. Look at those wrinkles.
😅 Wow, that outfit really wasn’t that flattering.
😅I need to film at better angles.
😅 Why am I even doing this, does anyone care what I have to say?

I think for many women, myself included, the desire to be liked, look perfect and appear like we have life figured out is STRONG.

It's this kind of pressure to be perfect that stopped me doing taking action in my marketing because I didn’t feel comfortable being truly seen.

Not just my shiny brand photos where I was looking my best (even that was a bit terrifying in my early days) but also seen as a more raw version of myself.

Now, I’m not saying we need to let it all hang out in our brands in order to 'be authentic'

But, one of the BIGGEST shifts I’ve experienced since having kids is caring less about what others think of me & being less precious with how I show up. 🤷‍♀️

Now? I UNDERTHINK it.

👉 I take messier action on the stuff that really doesn’t matter that much in the grand scheme.

Messier action looks like recording a video once or twice instead of 100 times.

I remember the days where I would do 30 takes of a video and end up exhausted, with no takes I actually liked and refusing to try video for another year.

There is such freedom in taking messier action, my friends.

I think a big part is developing a sense of self-trust.

It is SAFE to show up as you are.

✨ Even if your hair isn't perfect
✨ Even if your voice isn't for everyone
✨ Even if you're getting older or some pesky twins suddenly put 10 extra years on your face

You'll never see me offering services like these... 😬👇

"Website in a week" or "Branding in a day"...

These ‘quick and dirty’ services have been growing in popularity over the years. Honestly, I can see why!

They do get the job done, so to speak. Plus, they can usually be quite cost-effective. 🤷‍♀️

So, why wouldn’t I offer these services like many other branding and website designers?

Simply put, they're not my cup of tea. ☕️ But not for no reason!

👉 One of the biggest reasons why, is that myself and the soulful women in business I work with? We both value branding as a soulful journey that brings out the essence of who they are into their brand and website.

It’s not something you can (or should want to) do in a short amount of time.

✨ I believe a strong, clear brand comes from an intentional, strategy-first approach — which takes time. ⏰

Psst, a healthy reminder 👉 never compare your behind-the-scenes to someone else's highlight reel!

What you see in this photo is a happy, smiley family. What you don't see is...

👉...it's a sweltering hot day and I'm worried my makeup is melting off

👉...I've just calmed Noah down from tears because he hasn't been able to feed the ducks the way he wanted to. (He's hiding a whole bag of sliced supermarket bread in his hand behind me, which he refuses to let go of—not the most stylish accessory for a photoshoot)

👉...I'm questioning why I ever decided to invite my toddlers and in-laws to what was meant to be a business photoshoot and feeling anything but calm and zen as I prepare to express my essence and get some decent shots.

Most people present like they have it all together on social media. Most people share the wins, but aren't so forthcoming with their losses. It can lead you to think you're doing something wrong if your life isn't all glamourous and calm and easy.

What I know after getting an intimate look inside so many businesses, is that even the most successful business owners are straddling their own challenges. Nothing is ever smooth sailing.

Parenting and running a business are a lot alike sometimes...

There are highs and lows, new challenges around every corner, and "no one told me it would be this hard" moments that leave us wanting to throw in the towel 😅

But, of course, there are moments of joy that make every hair-pulling-out moment worth it.

It's true that anything that brings joy can't be rainbows and sunshine all the time. There are no rainbows without a little rain! 🌈

I've been in business for over a decade (how crazy is that?!), and experienced more ups and downs than I can count.

Still, even after all this time, I wouldn't choose to live my life any other way.

My business baby and my gorgeous boys make every moment sweeter. 🍭 I know my fellow working mummas can relate!

If you're having a particularly low day, week or month whether personally or in business, know that the wheel will turn soon enough and small joys exist in each day when we choose to look for them. You're doing great! 🫶

It costs me $900 per week to work. 😅

That’s how much daycare is costing us right now for our twins. $900 just to have the privilege to work. 🤯

I know this is technically a household expense. But I’ve found as women we often end up comparing our income to childcare costs, weighing up and asking ‘is it worth it?’

With the theme of International Women’s Day 2024 as , it brought this topic to the forefront of my mind again...

There’s no doubt in my mind being a mother is one of the most important jobs in the world. I love my boys more than anything. They bring me such joy and purpose. 🫶

👉 But, the reality is that often as mothers, we often sacrifice our other career dreams and aspirations because we're conditioned to believe caring for others should be our top priority.

As a mum of twins, I realised pretty early on that having the opportunity to work was essential for my self-care.
It's my:
✨ creative outlet.
✨ my sanctuary
✨ opportunity for cup-filling conversations.
✨ chance to inspire other women to share their gifts with the world.

So if you’re trying to follow your business dreams while:

• working a full time job
• raising kids
• or managing other complex responsibilities…

Know that I see you. We’re all juggling something. 🫶

It’s no feat to keep going, especially when some days feel tougher than others. Take your seat at the table, proudly. 👏

How do you know when you feel 'ready' to take the leap? (When the voice in your head is telling you 'not yet')

Change? It can feel scary.

Our minds and bodies don't like scary.

They are wired to protect us and keep us safe.

So, we tell ourselves 'we're not ready yet' while time ticks by, even months of years.

We end up berating ourselves for not 'feeling ready' 😥

Your big dreams? They're waiting for you outside of your comfort zone.

The best way to feel 'ready' to reach for them is to dive in.

You know what? It's okay to let yourself feel a little uncomfortable along the way.

Open yourself up to the support that's offered to you. 🫶

Along the way, something shifts and we adjust. We start feeling more reassured that we've got this!

If you're going to be bold and dive in? Have someone by your side to hold your hand when you take the plunge.

Someone cheering you on and checking in makes it much easier.

These are all things I had in mind when planning for Aligned and Embodied 2024. 🔥
