APRIL | TIME 🕰

April moved quickly. Short weeks, long work days + long to-do-list. But amongst it all, the string of public holidays brought something valuable: space to pause, take stock + feel grateful for what we have.

Those brief pauses helped recharge creativity too.

One of the most rewarding projects this month was leading ANZAC Day for a local club. A last-minute wet weather pivot meant shifting plans the day before. Yet, it turned into one of the most successful events to date. Thoughtful communication + a clear marketing approach made all the difference.

This sunset captured from my home office is another reminder of purpose + perspective.

Facebook Community, I'm sorry 🩷 It’s been a head down kind of season over here with so much happening behind the scenes + I’ve completely neglected this space.

Time for a little update on what’s been happening:

🌟 Worked with Tennis Australia team at the Brisbane International
🌟 Holidayed in Melbourne at the Australian Open (a true summer of tennis)
🌟 Launched my second business, Travel My Dear + booking truly incredible holidays for clients
🌟 Deep in planning for clients' 2025 events + currently supporting a new menu launch for one of my venues

With the calendar filling fast, I’m already taking bookings for retainer work from July.

This month, Outside the Lane turned two! 🎉 I am pleasantly surprised and forever grateful to have hit this milestone. I won't bore you with all the details of the year but it has been a year and one I’m extremely proud to have ‘thrived’ through.

There were moments I could have easily given up and closed the doors. Instead, I chose to:
⭐️ make decisions + transitions behind the scenes, to ensure the business could continue.
⭐️ redesign my marketing packages to realign with my expertise + work with my ideal clients.
⭐️ seek support from my freelancer + creative network.

From these tough decisions, came powerful results!
🩷 I’ve grown a stronger network through my freelancing networking events.
🩷 Strongly aligned with the clients I look after + seen amazing results come through in these last six months for every client, as a result.
🩷 October is the strongest month yet for Outside the Lane.

I am excited for what the next year will bring + will continue to celebrate every challenge, turn and win, in small business. Here's to many more milestones ahead! ✨

NEW (FINANCIAL) YEAR, NEW ME 💁‍♀️

Last month was a significant month marked by milestones + growth. I successfully offboarded two clients upon the completion of their projects. Throughout our collaboration, we achieved exceptional results, including enhanced brand cohesiveness, substantial social media growth, and the development of sustainable strategies for continued success.

Additionally, I conducted a photoshoot with the fantastic Gold from Eve Editorial to refresh the imagery for Outside the Lane + to establish the brand suite for my new (secondary) business, which officially launched in August.

July also marked the 12-month anniversary of Outside the Lane operating in a full-time capacity. Over the past year, it has seen remarkable growth. and no doubt, poised for even greater achievements in the coming year.

As I look ahead, I am excited about the opportunities to create impactful strategies and innovative solutions for both existing + future clients. ✨

JUNE | CHALLENGE 💪

Wow, June has come + gone, and so has the 2024 financial year! June was a month of significant growth, filled with challenges that I (most of the time) embraced. While small business challenges are always present, the ones I tackled were those I set for myself.

The biggest challenge + success of the month was organising my first freelancer networking event. Seventeen amazing women joined, transforming the evening into a fantastic night of networking, nibbles + new friendships. 👯‍♀️

Although it was intended as an EOFY event, the enthusiasm was so high, that the ‘crowd was chanting more!’. It looks like I’ll be arranging another soon, so watch this space. A reminder, these events are open to men + women – I would love to see some of our male freelancers there next time. 👨

There are also a few other self-imposing challenges I’m throwing at myself – stay tuned…Hope this next financial year brings us all challenges that spark excitement + energy for the journey ahead. ✨

The power of storytelling is truly remarkable. ✨ I had the opportunity to explore the Fairy Tales exhibit at GOMA on its last day + it was a captivating experience. As someone who has always been drawn to the magic of storytelling, the exhibit opened my eyes in unexpected ways.

Amidst the enchanting displays + whimsical artworks, one story in particular resonated deeply with me: Little Red Riding Hood. 🔴 Dating back to 1697, the earliest version of this tale by Charles Perrault, carries a stark message about the dangers of women straying from the path + trusting strangers. It's chilling to think that, over 300 years later, these themes still hold relevance in our society.

But let's not dwell on the darkness. 🌟 As I stood in awe at the sparkle of Cinderella's slipper + admired the intricate details of the intertwining timber of a woodland, I was reminded of the beauty that storytelling can bring.

By sharing our own narratives—our 'why,' 'how,' 'what'—we have the opportunity to captivate, inspire + connect with our audience on a deeper level. 📖 What stories are you weaving into your marketing efforts? ✨
