I just had no words for a while... It all started on February 24th.
This year seemed like another year when people made new year's resolutions, set new goals and hoped to achieve their dreams. But this year was different for the people of Ukraine...
I am half Russian, half Ukrainian. I was born in Estonia - a post-USSR country, and I still have distant family members living in Ukraine and Russia today. I moved to Australia 8 years ago to chase my dreams and hope for a better life.
The people of Ukraine are not chasing their dreams today; they are simply trying to SURVIVE, and this HAS TO STOP.
It hit me for a couple of weeks because as a Social Media Manager, where my work is about seeing all this daily on the internet, I could not believe that this is happening in 2022.
I know that nothing can be compared to what is happening to the people of Ukraine, and I wish sometimes I could do more than donate, speak up for them and pray. My question is - How do you even go on about your life when things like that happen? How do you eat breakfast, go to the gym, go out partying? When people you know are unsure if they can see the sunrise tomorrow.
I could not do any of that for weeks, or it was hard to stay positive at all. Everyone is different, though, and I get that. But as long as we are doing what we can to help Ukraine and the whole situation that is affecting Ukrainians and Russians now, I think that is what brings me a bit of hope every day.
Apart from seeing horrible things that are happening, I have also seen a lot of great things that people have been doing to support and help everyone in need. That is what will stop this WAR! People and their brave and kind hearts! And the more we have people who shine with light, the more light there will be.
Stay strong, Ukraine and everyone who has been affected by the war. Better days are coming! Слава україні!🇺🇦
