Gilimbaa has wrapped up a meaningful few days at the AIATSIS Summit 2026.

One of the highlights was the legendary Joshua Creamer delivering the Mabo Address on Mabo Day which was a powerful moment that resonated with many in the room. It was also great to reconnect with familiar faces, including Michelle Deshong, Aunty Carolyn Briggs, and Carol Vale, and to be part of a wider gathering of voices committed to this work.

Events like this are so important as they help shape and guide the issues impacting First Nations communities.
We’re grateful to have been part of it and to continue carrying this learning into our work.

This week Gilimbaa is proud to be attending the AIATSIS Summit 2026 on the Gold Coast, joining First Nations leaders, researchers, creatives, policymakers, community organisations and industry partners from across the country.

After an inspiring first two days filled with powerful conversations, shared insights and meaningful dialogue, it has been wonderful to reconnect with friends, colleagues, stakeholders and community members who are all contributing to positive change for our people and communities.

The AIATSIS Summit continues to provide an important platform for knowledge sharing, truth-telling, innovation and collective action. We look forward to the conversations, connections and learnings still to come over the next few days.

Proud to attend and be a part of many significant events honouring the Stolen Generations and their resilience every year, including the annual Apology Breakfast convened by Message Stick.

The stories of those who were removed will always be remembered.
