Nerding out with my graphic recording and visual practitioners. The only room you can complement someone on the shape of their ‘g’s’ and they smile appreciatively for the lettering praise.

I took a break in the new year to do an Indi Dust project where I was the client! My brief: Paint a mural on my office wall to become my virtual meeting background. Such a fun project, think I might do it every year. Here's a video of the making-of, thanks to all my little and big helpers along the way.

I’ve just passed the one-year mark since moving to Our Beautiful Beach Life, and when I arrived I had no idea how Indi Dust would evolve in this new place.

On my beach walks, I started picking up shells and thinking about how clients find me. I realised I didn’t need to chase or worry. They arrive when they’re ready. Each one washes ashore, and I pick them up one by one. I write the client’s name on the shell, along with a single word that captures the feeling or impact I hope to create with them.

It’s become a small, grounding ritual. And one year on, this is the result: 45 strategic visual storytelling projects, co-designed with deeply thoughtful, impact-driven humans, all shaped by this beautiful beach life.

I’m signing off for the year with a bucket-load of gratitude. Here’s to the horizon of 2026. I can’t wait to see what washes up next.

Every street’s got a story.

This one started with Dave of Deagon, who scribbled an idea on paper – a farewell gift for a neighbour (and their royal hound, King Charlie). His sketch showed all the local dogs, the regulars who fill Deagon's parks and footpaths every day.

From that scribble, I got to bring 'A Dozen Deagon Dogs' to life.

What I love most is that it wasn’t really about the dogs at all. It was about belonging. About how shared walks, late arvo chats and small gestures turn a street into a community.

That’s the magic of visual storytelling, taking an idea with heart and turning it into something everyone can see themselves in.

What happens when you sprinkle a little Indi Dust across a room full of brilliant humans? Watch to see the magic!

At the WiT: Women in Technology 2025 Awards, each table added a word or emoji, and I hand-drew it all into a vibrant visual story celebrating Women in STEM and this year’s theme: Stronger Together.

The full artwork stayed hidden… then was revealed square by square on the dance floor. 💃🪩

By the end of the night, we had a one-of-a-kind masterpiece alive with words, emojis, and energy from everyone in the room. A truly unique event activation that was so much fun to be a part of.

Just back from the Tombs of the Pharaohs exhibition in Cairns and wow… ancient Egypt knew how to do visual strategy.

No decks. No 80-page reports.
Just powerful stories, carved in stone.

It made me wonder:
Why do we bury our big ideas in decks, docs and Dropbox folders. No wonder no one’s on the same page.

What if your team could actually see the strategy – and feel part of it?

That’s what I do. (No stone chisel required.)

✨ Swipe through for 4 ancient secrets that I use to bring strategy to life today.

Some of the most powerful work we’ve done lately hasn’t been in front of a crowd. It’s happened in the quiet hum of boardrooms and stakeholder sessions where big decisions are being made and strategy is taking shape.

We get invited into these moments to listen, sketch, and sense what’s really going on beneath the surface. Then we transform all of it into strategic visuals – something clear, meaningful, and full of life. Visuals that live on long after the meeting ends.

You could call it creative consulting.
You could call it visual strategy.
But for us, it’s ‘magic in the making’ ... one of Indi Dust’s core values.

If you’re shaping a new direction, building alignment, or working on a strategy that needs to stick, we’d love to help turn it into a story your people can see and believe in.

The images below offer a glimpse into that magic. Visuals created this year to help teams align, decide, and move forward with clarity and confidence.

Curious what this could look like for your team?

Drop us a message with a project or idea you’d love to bring to life or tag someone who’d find this useful. Let’s make some magic happen together.

How can we do better at preventing exits from institutions into homelessness? This was the question Brisbane’s brightest and most passionate were tackling this week. This is only part one, Indi Dust live visual storytelling for the keynote speaker Dr Gregory P Smith OAM and a panel of experts from the prison, health, youth and asylum seeker domains. Part 2 sees me transform rich pictures created by 17 tables into a visual summary and story of 150 participants’ collective ideas and experiences. Thanks for trusting me with this very special project Q Shelter.

Stoked to share my recent chat on the Impact Boom podcast! I dive into why strategic visual storytelling isn’t just about pretty pictures, it’s crucial for creating social change.

Lots of shout outs to my beautiful clients ParentTV, Evolve Communities, Board Impact, MuraConnect CS Net and WiT: Women in Technology

Keen to hear more about how visual storytelling can drive change? Have a listen!

On Episode 522 of Impact Boom, Indi Tansey of Indi Dust discusses why she has observed social enterprises naturally choosing to implement Strategic Visual Storytelling to communicate their theory of change, simplify their messaging, and align with the values of customers and stakeholders.
