Hello big news! 🤯 After 5 years in business, Mullo Studio will be closing its doors next Monday 3 April 2023. I have accepted the role of Art Director at The University of Queensland. Mullo Studio has been one of the most profound experiences of my life — this has been a really difficult decision. ✨
I put Mullo Studio out into the universe in a weekend at 28. I had no confidence, no business acumen and deeply believed Mullo would not last. I told everyone I knew about Mullo on a Monday and things took off. Many factors contributed to this, but mostly, Mullo Studio worked because of you. 🙏🏻✨
Mullo has serviced hundreds of big brands and small businesses both here and overseas, and always supported indigenous, LGBTQIA+ and natural disaster affected communities in a pro bono capacity. Mullo has operated from Bundjalung country to Yunbenun and now Meanjin. I have had a physical studio and the most incredible colleague, Ivy. I collaborated with Covid in 2020 and the campaign went nuts. The pandemic hit my clients hardest at the end of 2021 and then the floods hit the Northern Rivers in March 2022, and Mullo lost 50-80% of its business each time. Mullo recuperated relatively quickly due to 3am sweats, working smartly and returning clients (thank you x100). Being innovative (and working really hard) is synonymous with business ownership. I’ve been featured on podcasts, publications and given talks. Thank you for these invitations, they still bewilder micro me.
The most magical thing about running Mullo Studio has been interacting with the people who surround this business — you. I’ve liaised with all walks of life. Mostly, running Mullo has renewed, again and again, my faith in the goodness of people. 🥰
It has been the most meaningful and ridiculous 5 years. 4 min face-to-camera chat on Instagram today to say the biggest thank you. I’ll be here until 3 April 2023.
Thank you. Over and out. 🖤
