AI is changing a lot in marketing right now 🤖

We’re seeing things like AI Overviews in Google search, and more people asking tools like ChatGPT for recommendations.

But here’s something important for local businesses that often gets overlooked...

Your Google Maps profile is still one of the most powerful assets you have ⭐️

When people search for local services, Google still heavily relies on Google Maps listings and reviews.

In fact, in many industries Google is prioritising map results over traditional website rankings.

So even if a competitor ranks above you in the normal search results, you can still win the click through Google Maps if your listing looks stronger.

And one of the biggest factors in that?

Google reviews!

They make a HUGE difference, but a lot of businesses don’t put enough effort into getting them.

If you want to improve your visibility and attract more customers, focus on three simple things:

1️⃣ Get reviews consistently

Businesses with lots of genuine reviews tend to rank better on Google Maps and convert more customers.

2️⃣ Reply to every review

This shows customers you care, but it can also help with SEO.

For example, if someone says they visited your physio clinic for shoulder pain, that phrase can actually help your business appear for searches related to shoulder pain.

When replying, you can naturally reference what they mentioned.

3️⃣ Show reviews on your website

Displaying reviews on your website builds trust and reinforces the reputation you’re building on Google.

It also helps when AI tools scan your website for trust signals.

For local businesses, reviews aren’t just nice feedback, they’re one of the strongest growth signals you can have.

(Although we’d lean towards video if it's a solid video).

Most marketing advice will tell you video wins. And often it does, but it really depends on the product or service.

If you have a great video, that will usually outperform an image.

However, if your video is too long or doesn’t quickly catch attention, it won’t beat a strong image.

People have very short attention spans, which is why things like grids can work so well.

For example, 3 to 4 images showing the product or service with a headline explaining what it is.

Combined with the first line of the ad, the customer can understand in under a second what you’re selling and whether it’s relevant to them 👌

With a video, that’s harder to achieve instantly.

You need to capture attention first, then hold it.

That said, if you can catch that attention and visually show the step by step process of your service or highlight the benefits, video can work incredibly well as it can say more, and build more trust 🔥

Regardless of the format, you always want to:

1️⃣ Clearly show what the product or service is, quickly.

2️⃣️ Have an attention grabbing hook (headline, first line, opening shot)

3️⃣ Paid it with good ad copy + landing page.

4️⃣ Test both side by side.

Some variations we often test:

• image grid with a headline
