COOGEE BEACH

Beach walk jetty to jetty in the Cockburn Sound. Good to get some fresh salty air!

So good to see the branding I designed for the $10m integrated community facility back in 2012 for the opening in 2013, when I was on the committee.

Coogee Beach always glistening, looking out to Fremantle. Love the new lifesaver lookouts.

The old Woodmanpoint jetty is getting a much needed revamp - should look to make a real land mark destination of it like Coney Island Pier, Brighton Palace Pier (East Sussex UK) or Southend Pier. The parklands are full of historical plaques, army bunkers, urban art and sculptures. Its beautiful 💕

Great day!

LEST WE FORGET

Think of my Poppy WWII 🌺, Step Dad Lew Australian Royal NAVY and Great Grandfather WW1 - on

A couple of years ago I was able to find my Poppy on the Virtual War Memorial page - I updated his photo and connected him to his father my great-grandfather .aus

My step-Dad Lew was a sailor during Vietnam. Growing up with him was fun, we learned to tie knots, clean the deck and read a lot! He taught us many things growing up, to be bold and brave - and specifically where the ‘c bomb’ came from tow the “Cuntline” 🤣

God Bless all the fallen souls before us who sacrificed their lives for our freedom and the brave serving our country. ✌️

BIG BETTLE BUG

Forgot to show the rhino bettle in my last collective post…

Like everything unique in Australia, they make the bugs extra big in Brisbane, Queensland and they often wander inside🪲🦏 rhinoceros beetles are ok they’re harmless and a subfamily of the scarab beetle or unicorn bettle family 🦄

If you listen closely, they hiss when you touch them gently… that’s a hissyfit! 🤣

We said hello and put big bettle bug back outside.

DESIGN FOR THE FUTURE

Love this design quote:

“The future of design is not about creating more, it’s about creating differently. That means shifting from designing for efficiency to designing for accountability.”
Céline Semaan

In other words ‘less is more’ when you design something of integrity and quality, it could Reduce waste, be Reusable, Recycled, or Repaired. This is the way forward in industrial design and designing for the future 💚

PACKAGING FORAGIN

Treasure find! We had a fair bit of rain over the weekend in Queensland and after a deluge, something always washes up, so we keep a look out for odd shapes on the rock bed.

The old bottle in this image appears to be an antique Dutch gin (Jenever) case bottle, likely dating from the late 18th to the 19th century. This type of bottle was widely used for exporting gin during that period. It’s melted together from the heat of the sun and identifying stamping has melted, so it’s unclear how long it’s been in the brook.

* Type: It is a “case” flask bottle, characterized by its square or rectangular, tapering shape, designed to fit securely into wooden cases for transport.

* Material and Color: The bottle is made of thick, green glass and has a fused glass lid stopper indicating it pre-dates a screw top.

* Age: Bottles of this style were mass-produced throughout the 19th century, with some examples dating back to around 1800.

* Usage: It contained Dutch gin and was a common trade good exported globally.

Check out the video: Foraging for treasure in the brook is my favorite pastime with my trusty doggo I love the old packaging designs and history 💚
