Last week on 23 January was a day of reflection, celebration and pride for me. I celebrated 18 years of owning and operating Absolute Events & Marketing. I know… where did that time go??? Honestly I feel I blinked and time has gone from 2007 to now.
I can't believe I had the courage all those years ago to do this, but I'm beyond proud I did and of the achievements we have made.
Over the coming months, we'll post some of the highlights from the past 18 years but, for today, this is a long, personal post.
Owning a business is SO damn hard. BUT there are so many positives especially where you can control your direction, create a positive and supportive space for your team, work with some seriously amazing clients and industry people.
Oh the flexibility to come up with ideas, make changes, and implement them without 20 managerial meetings to discuss or get approval!
How did I get here? Apart from a crazy idea 18 years ago, my everlasting thanks to those who have supported me and supported AEM. We would not be here without you – thank you from the bottom of my heart. How did I get so lucky to have this Tribe?
My Clients – One of the most favourite things from the past 18 years, is that I can choose to work with people we like, who are a fun bunch and trust us to do what we do well.
My Team – I am blessed to have been able to create a wonderful work environment and have the most amazing team. I'm truly grateful for Amy Mailander, Kylie McKenzie and Bianca Sing and all the past team members. All the current and past team have shaped AEM and continue to do so into the future.
This Team includes our amazing supplier team and industry colleagues as well!
My Family – My amazing family give me SO much support and love with listening, providing advice, giving me pre-cooked meals during the massively busy event times, and so much, much more. Pre-covid, they came onsite and we loved sharing those experiences and memories.
My Friends – I'm blessed to have friends who care so much and understand when I have no choice to go off the radar due to work commitments, then embrace me when I resurface!
Thanks to my wonderful Tribe more than I can ever express and please know how much your support means to me – honestly it keeps me going,
Now, for the plan for the coming years… perhaps a Fiji office is calling Or France…..?
