A message from the President of Women in Tourism GC.
Our team are knee deep in planning for our WIT Annual Christmas Party on December 6. For us, Christmas is about the simple joy of being together to share generosity, kindness and love and at each and every event throughout the year, your ticket price and raffle donations go to great local causes.
This December, our party will add some other ingredients with a whole lot of laughter, glamour and team building challenges cause grown-ups know, it is only through adversity we grow.
Since you all blitzed the Build a Bonnet Challenge at the QT last year, we have a new time-constrained design task for you this year, (it’s a surprise), a special networking challenge and a terrific member- only raffle prize. We celebrate loyalty and have also organised a 15% WIT member discount at Sea World Resort for the evening prior to our breakfast.
Hold onto your hats for our emcee, Matty Stephan who is bordering on Gold Coast rock star status and certainly has Hollywood good looks and the talent to host – and sing, for us. Have we got a surprise for you!
Naturally, the carollers are back, the tree won’t be bare since we’re suggesting to guests they bring a non-perishable item for Walk With Us Charity and we will have a WIT Wishing Well for your tourism wishes… Christmas wishes we intend to pass to Experience Gold Coast… and Santa will be coming along to collect those personally.

As we watch 2024 come to a close (so rapidly I must say) there is so much change in the world and trending locally with a new Queensland Premier, predicted by the WIT Team back at The Imperial Hotel in June, now in power and rolling out new ministers and bold new policies.
The Gold Coast is opening its doors to a growing number of international visitors from India, we are debating a new stadium, the cable car is back on the agenda, completion of the light rail, the 2032 Olympics is a biggie impacting many decisions going forward, a More Teachers Better Education plan led by newly appointed Education Minister, Surfers Paradise-based John Paul Langbroek is on the cards, the successful Pan Pacific Masters Games where Tom Tate was a competitor, a raft of major music events in 2025 anticipated to bring more than $10M to our economy and a focus on sports tourism, thanks to the John Warn/Experience Gold Coast connection.
This is always an exciting city so let’s come together to celebrate our year and toast our incredible city on Friday 6 December.
When the new year hits, we’d love to add some sponsors to WIT’s list of things to celebrate and please keep in mind, we love your prize donations to make our events fun and fabulous… no matter how small or large.
Let the silly season begin. Traditions vary wherever you live but at our place, the Christmas tree goes up on 1 December, a Sunday.

CHRISTMAS BREAKFAST GIVING TREE
The WIT team kindly ask that you please bring a food or gift item (Christmas treats, chocolates, bon bons, toys, toiletries, games etc) to place under the tree at our WIT Annual Christmas Breakfast at the Seaworld Resort Conference Centre. These items will be placed into special hampers for families that are doing it tough this year. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated.
Walk With Us (WWU) is more than an organisation; it’s a heartfelt journey that began in 2015 with a simple mission—to stand beside those facing homelessness. Over the years, their commitment has deepened, embracing not only the homeless but also disadvantaged youth, individuals grappling with mental health issues, and survivors of domestic violence.
