Say hello to Marloes!

We're welcoming Marloes Drijver to the team, a graduate architect with a Master's in Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences from Delft University of Technology, with a real soft spot for heritage buildings and adaptive reuse.

Marloes works across both Cogplex and Sandcastle, connecting the dots between the creative work we do and the developments it's actually built for. Basically, if a project needs a design-literate eye on the details from day one, she's your person.

Plandid or candid?

Why not both? A good strategy is one that is usually well thought out and planned far in advance. But that doesn't mean you can't wander off the straight and narrow every once in a while.

While great ideas rarely happen without intention, we're also big believers in leaving room for the unexpected. Some of our best conversations, strongest ideas and favourite moments happen when we step away from the desk.

We take our work seriously, but never ourselves - we think that's part of what makes working together so enjoyable.

Come behind the scenes on another client shoot.

A successful shoot is about more than creating content that looks good. It’s about understanding the business and finding the moments that reflect what makes it different.

Every photo and video has a role to play and we are always creating with the bigger picture in mind.

Here’s a look behind the camera.

As part of National Volunteer Week, Jess was invited back to present a social media workshop with the Busselton Dunsborough Volunteer Centre.

The theme? Social media is about people. Not perfect graphics or polished captions - but connection. That feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself.

The conversations in the room were thoughtful, honest and genuinely inspiring. Hearing the passion that volunteers and community organisations have for what they do (even through the challenges!) is exactly why we love what we do.

Thank you to the Busselton Dunsborough Volunteer Centre for having us back and to everyone who showed up and made it such a special morning.

There's nowhere quite like the South West.

Our office is in Busselton, but our team is spread across the region, living the lifestyle as much as working in it.

We understand this place in a way that's hard to replicate from the outside, and and getting to work with the people and businesses that call it home is something we don't take for granted.

Too often, branding gets treated as a cost, rather than as an investment - especially when there's pressure to get up and running. Over time, that quick fix leaves you with a brand that feels disconnected and not reflecting the quality of your business, or what you stand for.

Every touchpoint, from your logo to your website, contributes to how your business is perceived. When those touchpoints aren’t working together, it doesn’t just cost you financially, but also in the customers you're losing.

Investing in your brand early means building something that can actually grow with your business. Getting it right the first time is almost always more cost-effective than starting over later - and if you're at the point where your brand has outgrown where you started, that's a good problem to have, and a great place to begin!

Stop creating more content!

You don’t need to film more reels, organise another shoot or sit there trying to think of something new to say - creating content from scratch every time you post is exhausting. One week you’re on a roll with a fresh new idea and the time to run with it. The next week, nothing. No time, no ideas, no energy to even start, and the overwhelm that comes with it.

And let’s face it, the post, reel or article you developed last week that you were so excited about, wasn’t even seen by most of your audience.

So let’s use that to our advantage. Repurposing content gives it another shot. Posting consistently and with value is far more important than a new idea every day! Loose that constant pressure to start from scratch - go back through your posts, take a look at what performed well, and what didn’t, and shuffle it around. Change the hook, switch up the order, reuse this visual and apply it to that theme... It doesn’t have to be complicated.

Work better with what you’ve already got - you don’t need more ideas to grow, you just need to stop wasting the ones you already have.

A low search rank on Google, no social media presence or non-mobile friendly website could be the difference between someone going to you or your competitor.

Each touchpoint shapes perception, and perception shapes choice.

If you aren't ensuring that each point is covered to the standard that your competitor is, then you can't compete.

Why it matters: tone of voice

The same message, written in three different ways. While all three tones have the same message behind it, the tone shapes how audiences interpret and connect with the message, long before the meaning is fully considered.

Your tone of voice is part of your brands personality. It helps create communications that feel recognisable wherever the brand appears.

It matters because branding isn’t only about what you say, it’s also about how you say it.
