EDIT: The backstory to this post. me ta is introducing a new policy where they say they can use any image posted on their platforms to train their ai to generate that image. There is an option to opt-out from that part of the policy but only in the European Union. So many artists, illustrators, pattern designers that are not operating in the EU started this movement of putting their objection in similar form as below (either in stories or posts or both) to show their objection to the new policy.
Right, so this is where we are now...as artists, illustrators, designers, who did I miss?
From the the DIY design platforms, through companies stealing art from artists and shamelessly putting it on their products for sale to now ai being trained to generate images based on our art that we share on platforms like this...
The industry has been undervalued and facing challenges for a long time, but this latest move is just outrageous.
Adding this to all the ever changing algorithm rules, to be honest I feel less and less willing/inclined/inspired/motivated to share anything here. What are your thoughts about all this?
