Look after you gear!

Shooting in bad weather can produce some of the most dramatic and captivating photos. Rain, snow, fog, and mud add atmosphere and texture that are hard to replicate in a studio. But these conditions also expose your camera gear to moisture, dirt, and grit that can cause serious damage if not cleaned...

Milford Sound. South Island NZ.
An unplanned and unexpected last minute sunset through the mountain of Mitre Peak.
So much so that this is hand held and taken with controlled breathing as I was below the reciprocal rule using a 50mm and shooting at 1/25s
And the bonus of no sandflies (well minimal) becasue it was winter was a welcome change!

Not too far from Wanaka in New Zealand I decided to go off the beaten track in my camper van one very chilly morning. Lake Hawea I have passed through numerous times but I just wanted to wander along and see where it took me.

To get his shot I stood knee deep in 8 deg water and subsequently couldn't resist taking a cold plunge afterwards. Fresh to say the least and so worth it.

The log caught my eye as I wandered along the shore and so I put a polarising filter on and tried to remove the reflections on the surface.

I hope you have a great day ;-0

"The wonder of it all"

Mt Oliver in Mt Cook / Aoraki. South Island New Zealand. 3 weeks ago.

An hr from Mueller Hut, a very very steep climb behind me after this shot with crampons and an ice axe. But so so worth it.

"On top of the World"

is how I felt after a physically demanding but stupendous climb of 1000m using sheer determination, some fitness, crampons and an ice axe...

Mueller's Hut. Mt Cook Aoraki in South Island New Zealand.

This is no walk in the park. But if you have the willpower then put it on your bucket list.

8 weeks and I hope to be up here, weather and Rangers permission pending. Wont know until I arrive. :-). If no avalanche risk then I will be allowed up to stay for a few nights in Muellers hut and photograph the Milky Way above these mountains.

Mungana Caves, Chillagoe Queensland Australia.
The Ramparts. at dawn yesterday 020324.

The mossies were ferocious on this side of the cave where I was doing my dawn shoot. But worth it, at least thats what I keep telling myself.

"Its Ok"

Yesterday a reel came across my feed of this singer who was in probably and hopefully a place we will never experience.

The song touched me deeply and still does. Below is my happy place. Well, my go to place for many reasons. When I listen to it it's like someone presses my cry button 🤣🤣.

This song and her story broke me, lifted me up and also added some perspective to my own life, more recently since 2020.

I share because I hope that wherever you are and however you are doing this song will have a positive impact and possible lift you up and release you as well.

"Goooood Mornin"

Just another sunrise in Tropical North Qld Australia. Bingal Bay in fact at 6am this morning.
I was set up low to the sand here and a rogue wave came in washed over some pebbles right in front of me.
After this shot I stopped to enjoy the sunrise and promptly went for a morning swim which was just heaven.

There is a lot of work that goes into preparing works for a gallery exhibition. Thanks to my better half Kylie Arantzz and her eye for detail these are the results so far.
For the first time I have actually enjoyed sitting down and transporting myself back to each moment that I took these images. Almost a bit of nostalgia but also a reminder as I look back on these images how fast time passes. It is as if yesterday I took these but in reality it was November 2021!

Feel free to test the qr codes if the fb upload quality is good enough.

These are all being exhibited in the Arte gallery in CrystalBrooke Baily which is a fantastic spot for a magnificent dinner and also a place to unwind with a fine wine. Open from 3.30 pm Tues to Sundays Crystalbrook Bailey
