New speed limits coming next week ❗

The Commissioner for Transport has approved speed limit changes at the following locations.

👉 Bass Highway, for 1.9-kilometres between the Howth and Heybridge roundabouts, from 110 km/h to 90 km/h.
👉 Cressy Road, for 500-metres starting just south of Brickendon Street in Longford, from 80 km/h to 60 km/h.
👉 Huon Highway, for 4.4-kilometres between Waterloo and south of the Geeveston township, from 100 km/h to 80 km/h.
👉 Huon Highway, for 900-metres through Raminea, from 100 km/h to 80 km/h.
👉 Huon Highway, for 2.3-kilometres through Glendevie from 80 km/h to 70 km/h.

The speed limits were reviewed in response to requests by members of the local communities and assessment by the Department of State Growth.

Each change will reduce the risk of crashes, improving safety for road users.

The changed speed limits will come into effect once the new speed limit signs have been installed, which is expected to be between Monday, 14 October and Friday, 18 October 2024.

‘New speed limit ahead’ signs will also be placed to warn road users of the change.

You can read more about each speed limit change here: https://www.transport.tas.gov.au/managing_the_roads/speed_limits_in_tasmania/about_speed_limits
