A year or two ago, an AI-generated graphic could still make people stop and look.

But now? Almost everyone’s using them.

Most of the time, we see the same hyper-realistic people, the same backgrounds, the same elements, the same fonts. If you scroll long enough, different brands can start looking like they were made by the same person (or more accurately, the same prompt)

If everyone has access to the same tools and prompts, then generating something with isn’t really a "creative" advantage anymore.

It can actually make your content easier to ignore.

That doesn’t mean businesses should stop using AI. It’s useful, especially when you’re working with a small team, limited budget or tight turnaround.

But there are numerous ways to make good content without making every post look AI-generated:

- Build a simple brand kit with your colours, fonts and a few layouts you can reuse.

- Take photos of your actual team, office, products or day-to-day work.

- Use templates and actually customize them instead of changing one line of text and calling it done.

- Use screenshots, customer feedback, simple text posts, behind-the-scenes content or even a clean graphic with one strong message.

Not every post needs to look like a campaign. Sometimes the most believable content is also the simplest.

And if you are using AI, use it where it actually helps. Brainstorming, concepts, copy ideas, moodboards, removing backgrounds, resizing elements or speeding up repetitive work.

Then bring the human part back in.

Because people are getting better at spotting what feels generated, and brands that still feel real, consistent and recognisable are going to stand out more because of it.

And yes, AI can help you create more content, but it shouldn’t make your brand look like everyone else’s. That's the last thing you want for your business.

Figuring out that balance is the hard part, that’s something ZELLIS can help with.

MATESHIP PARTNERS WITH AUSTRALIA POST TO STRENGTHEN SOCIAL COMMERCE DELIVERY

Australian social-commerce platform Mateship has partnered with Australia Post, giving shoppers access to more than 5,600 delivery and collection locations nationwide, including over 1,500 Parcel Lockers. Mateship helps consumers discover and shop products through social recommendations, and the new partnership extends that journey from product discovery and checkout through to more flexible fulfilment.

For retailers, the move reflects how customer experience is becoming increasingly connected across marketing, commerce and operations. As shoppers expect more convenience at every stage, brands may need to think beyond simply driving traffic and consider how discovery, checkout and delivery work together to influence conversion, loyalty and repeat purchases.

You may know exactly who your competitors are from sales conversations, pitch decks and market research.

But AI may be building a different competitive set for your buyers.

When someone asks for the “best” providers, platforms or products in a category, the answer usually isn’t one brand. It’s a shortlist.

This recurring group is what 's report calls a “Consideration Set” — brands that AI repeatedly associates and mentions together.

One example: for every 100 mentions on ChatGPT, appeared alongside it 86 times, 77 times and 72 times.

For B2B businesses, that matters because the comparison can start before a prospect ever reaches your website.

If AI consistently surfaces three or four competitors and your brand isn’t one of them, you may be missing the consideration stage altogether.

So how can businesses improve their chances of appearing more often in AI search?

The report highlights a few practical areas to focus on:

- Get mentioned in the right third-party sources.

- Identify the specialist publishers and websites AI repeatedly cites in your industry and work toward being featured, reviewed or referenced there.

- Build stronger customer signals. Better customer experiences can lead to more reviews, recommendations and conversations around your brand.

- Track who keeps appearing beside you. If the same competitors consistently show up in AI answers, that gives you a clearer picture of the competitive set buyers may actually be seeing.

The goal isn’t to manipulate AI results.

It’s to make sure your brand is present in the places, conversations and sources that already influence how those answers are formed.

Because as AI becomes another starting point for research, being on the shortlist may matter just as much as ranking on the first page.

You can have a strong website, invest in SEO and publish consistently, and still wonder why competitors keep appearing in AI-generated recommendations while your business doesn’t.

One reason may be where AI is getting its information from.

Semrush’s AI Visibility study found that every industry has its own “Citation Core.” In simple terms, think of it as the group of specialist websites and sources that AI repeatedly refers back to when answering questions about a particular industry.

So when someone asks AI, “What’s the best option for this?” or “Which company should I consider?”, it isn’t necessarily relying on company websites alone. It may be looking at the publishers, review platforms and specialist sources that already have influence in that space.

And the Citation Core changes depending on the industry.

For automotive, sources like Cars.com, Carfax, Edmunds and Kelley Blue Book feature heavily. In travel, Tripadvisor accounts for 30% of travel citations on ChatGPT and 38% on Google AI Mode. In sports, ESPN accounts for around 24–30% of citations.

That’s where the challenge for businesses comes in.

You might be saying all the right things on your own website, but if competitors are being reviewed, referenced or featured across the sources AI regularly turns to, and you’re not, the answer a potential customer receives may favour them before that customer even reaches your site.

So building visibility now means understanding more than your rankings.

- Which sources matter in your industry?
- Is your brand appearing in them?
- Who is being mentioned instead?

Because as AI becomes another route customers use to research businesses, being visible in the right places may matter just as much as having the right content on your own website.

At ZELLIS, we help businesses look at the wider digital picture, identify where visibility is being lost and uncover practical opportunities to strengthen how customers discover and evaluate their brand.

People aren’t always starting their buying journey with a Google search anymore.

They’re asking for recommendations, using Mode to compare options, and getting a shortlist before they’ve even visited a brand’s website.

Semrush’s latest AI Visibility study found that 69% of the most-mentioned brands overlap between ChatGPT and Google AI Mode. But what’s interesting is how those brands make it into the answer. ChatGPT often uses Reddit and Wikipedia as sources, accounting for 28.9% and 23.1% of citations respectively. Google AI Mode, on the other hand, puts more weight on social and video, including YouTube and Facebook.

For businesses, that changes the visibility question.

It’s no longer only:
“Do we rank when someone searches for us?”

It’s also:
“Do we show up when someone asks AI who they should consider?”

And if you don’t, the customer may already have a shortlist before they ever reach your website.

At ZELLIS, we help businesses look at the bigger digital journey, where customers are discovering you, what influences their decisions, and where opportunities are being missed.

AI is becoming part of the team, whether it sits on the org chart or not.

We’re already seeing roles evolve around it. Marketers are expected to work with AI tools. Customer service teams are working alongside automation. Finance and admin teams are using it to move through processes faster. And managers are figuring out where technology fits into workflows that were once entirely human.

That changes the conversation around workforce planning.

Businesses aren’t just deciding who they need anymore. They’re deciding what the role should look like, which capabilities should sit with people, where AI fits, and how the two work together from day one.

For growing businesses, that could mean building very different teams from the ones they would have built even a few years ago.

The future of work isn’t about choosing between AI and people. It’s about designing for both.

If you’re rethinking how your team is structured and where you need additional capacity, let’s talk. 👋

LIVE COMMERCE IS GAINING GROUND IN AUSTRALIA 🎥🇦🇺

Live shopping has already become a major retail channel overseas, and Australia may be starting to catch up. New eBay research shows 40% of surveyed Australians are interested in shopping via livestreams, while categories including pre-loved fashion, collectables and refurbished tech are already gaining traction. eBay Live’s global annual GMV run rate has also grown nearly 8x year-on-year across its seven markets.

For Australian retailers, this signals another shift in how customers discover and evaluate products online. Live commerce brings product demonstrations, real-time questions and direct interaction into the buying journey, giving businesses another way to build trust and turn product discovery into a more engaging experience. It may not replace traditional ecommerce, but as consumer behaviour evolves, it’s a channel worth keeping an eye on.

You know that task you keep telling yourself will only take 10 minutes?

Then you do it again tomorrow. And the next day. And suddenly, you’ve spent hours on it by the end of the week.

Maybe it’s responding to customer enquiries.

Maybe it’s updating spreadsheets.

Maybe it’s processing orders, chasing follow-ups, managing appointments, or keeping your CRM up to date.

None of these tasks are necessarily difficult. But they’re taking up valuable time, and when you’re running a growing business, those hours could be going towards sales, strategy, customers, or your team.

That’s the point of the 5-Hour Test.

If a task is taking up 5+ hours of your week, stop and ask: "Do I really need to be the one doing this?”

It’s a question worth asking when your team is already stretched.

At ZELLIS, we support Australian businesses with the day-to-day work that keeps things moving, from admin and customer support to eCommerce operations, data management and more.

The goal isn’t simply to take work off your hands. It’s to give your internal team more time to focus on the work that genuinely needs them.

Got a task that’s eating up more time than it should? Book a discovery call with us and let’s see where we can help.👇🏼

AUSTRALIA LEADS THE WORLD IN AI AT WORK 🇦🇺

Australia has emerged as one of the world’s heaviest users of generative AI, with businesses moving quickly from experimenting with AI to using it as part of everyday work. The shift shows just how quickly AI is becoming embedded in Australian workplaces.

For Australian businesses, AI is no longer just something to test on the side. It’s becoming part of how teams work, solve problems and get things done, and businesses that learn how to use it effectively have an opportunity to improve productivity and stay ahead.

Your business can be profitable and still have money leaking out of it.

And usually, it isn't one massive problem.

It’s the small things that have become “normal”:

→ Your team spends hours every week manually moving data between systems.

→ A service is priced based on what competitors charge, not what it actually costs you to deliver.

→ Sales keeps pushing a product that generates revenue but has poor margins.

→ Managers spend time fixing the same operational issues instead of preventing them.

→ You’ve added software, contractors and processes over time, but nobody has reviewed whether you still need all of them.

Individually, these might not look like major expenses.

Add them up over 12 months, and they can have a very real impact on your bottom line. This is where consulting can create a quick return.

Instead of immediately telling you to “grow faster”, a good consultant looks at how the business is currently operating and asks:

Where are we spending more than we need to?

Where are we losing time?

Which activities actually contribute to revenue?

And what can we change without disrupting the business?

Sometimes, improving profitability isn't about finding another 100 customers. It’s about making the business you already have run better.

At ZELLIS, we work with businesses to identify operational inefficiencies, uncover opportunities and turn them into practical improvements, so growth isn't just about increasing revenue, but keeping more of it.

If your revenue is growing but your margins aren't moving with it, it might be time to look under the hood.
