Before someone becomes a client, they go on a journey. A journey of connection.
There’s a simple flow I teach all the time: Know → Like → Trust → Value → Refer (It’s not magic. It’s just how people work.)
Here’s what that looks like:
🔸 Know – First, they need to know you exist.
If you’re hiding, they’re not buying. Show up online. Say hi. Tell people what you actually do.
🔸 Like – Then, they need to like you (or at least not run the other way).
Be human. Share your story. Show your face. It’s hard to connect with a faceless brand.
🔸 Trust – No one buys from someone they don’t trust.
Deliver what you say you will. Be reliable. Don’t disappear mid-email thread.
🔸 Value – This is where the magic happens.
Solve a problem. Teach something useful. Give them a reason to stick around - even if they don’t buy today.
🔸 Refer – When you’ve nailed all the above?
People want to tell their mates about you. (Especially if you make them look good for recommending you.)
No complicated sales funnel required. The Know → Like → Trust → Value → Refer flow is more of a relationship funnel. Instead of moving people through a series of sales tricks, you're guiding them through stages of genuine connection.
Just show up, be useful, be you.
That’s how great marketing works.
People do business with people they know, like, trust, and VALUE. And if those things are all in line they will be more likely to refer you and your company as well. boom!
