This week we welcome Maggie and Clare- interns from the US as part of the International Education of Students Abroad program (IES Abroad)

Clare is in her final year at the College of Saint Benedict - Saint John's University (), pursuing dual degrees in English (Creative Writing) and Strategic Communication. She will support the team with public relations, communications, and content development.

Maggie, also in her final year, is studying at the University of Iowa (), completing her degree in Marketing specialising in Communication Studies. She will play a key role in advancing website and app development while furthering her skills in marketing strategies.

Yesterday, they joined Mel Harrison (Sitting Low; Reaching High - Mel Harrison) in the studio for the Disability Fails Podcast (Disability Fail 101) to further their understanding of podcast production and ImpactInstitute's goals.

We're thrilled to have them onboard and contribute to our upcoming projects!

Today, James “Chappo” Chapman joined Mel Harrison (Sitting Low; Reaching High - Mel Harrison), host of the Disability Fails podcast (Disability Fail 101) in our studio for a candid discussion about real-life accommodation fails and the challenges of traveling with a disability.

Together, they unpack the limited expectations able-bodied individuals set for people with disability.

Chappo noted that being disabled doesn't mean you aren't capable - instead, you become a problem solver who finds different ways to achieve goals. "Don't blame individuals, blame society for not educating them."

Stay tuned for when this episode drops in the coming weeks!

Our MD, Paula Cowan, has just returned from the PROI Worldwide Summit in Tokyo with a digital swag of insights and ideas. Convening the largest network of independent communications firms, the summit brought together leaders from all over the world who had some key issues in mind, including:

🚀 AI and the opportunity to design for new capabilities
🚀 Evidence-based growth strategy, and challenging the truisms we can be guilty of clinging on to
🚀 The advantage of incorporating ESG into core company strategy
🚀 APAC Regional strength in a rapidly-changing global order
🚀 Leadership readiness for organisational transformation

We're looking forward to unpacking these as an organisation, and would love to hear from you if you have particular interest in these areas.

The office smelled like a bakery this morning as we hosted our Biggest Morning Tea.

We do it every year as part of Cancer Council Australia’s fundraiser supporting people impacted by cancer, a cause that’s close to home for many of us and one we’ll always get behind.

Sticky rice bread, sourdough slices, gluten-free banana muffins, strong coffee… a pretty great excuse to step away from the desk and catch up.

Thanks to Heather for pulling it all together, and to our office share neighbours Jon and Sean for joining and sharing Anita’s video message with us.

If you’re hosting your own Biggest Morning Tea, we’d love to hear what’s on the menu. Any must-bake recipes or go-to favourites?

What a thrill to be in the room at the Associations Forum Communications Summit on Monday. While special interests ranged from automotive aftercare through to midwifery and way beyond to video gaming, there was a distinct focus on learning contemporary communications practice.

We were proud to support the event as a gold sponsor and Niall shared with the room what it takes to gain media attention with the right mix of evidence and storytelling.

Making its debut on the day was our new Media Readiness diagnostic tool. Give it a whirl if you've got three minutes - www.impactinstitute.com.au/media-readiness/

We’re still going strong for B Corp Month!

Even with the rainy forecast, our team laced up their comfiest shoes and headed out to Blue Gum Creek for an hour of fresh air, light chat, and the occasional bird call.

Along the way, we put the ‘E’ in ESG by collecting plastic bags and bottles from the creek; now happily relocated to the right bins.

A small act, but one that makes a real difference for our local Chatswood community and the wildlife we share it with.

So let's hear it. How are you celebrating B Corp Month?

Last week we hosted Sitting Low; Reaching High - Mel Harrison and the team from Radio 2RPH in the ImpactInstitute podcast studio to record the first four episodes of Mel’s new podcast — Disability Fail 101. The team welcomed some very exciting guests, such as Ronan Soussa from Love on the Spectrum fame.

Disability Fail 101 is a Radio 2RPH production, made possible by the support of the Community Broadcasting Foundation. We’re proud to partner with this important project and to donate our podcast studio to support the launch of this new platform for disability voices and storytelling.

Follow Disability Fail 101 as they prepare to launch!
