Have missed my podcasting days! It was so lovely to be featured on the glorious Kate Toon's Recipe for SEO Success podcast.

In this episode, I dive into how AI is transforming keyword strategy, from using tools like ChatGPT for ideas, to why long-tail keywords still matter, and most importantly how humans keep the edge in an AI world. AI hasn’t put me out of a job yet!

If you’re curious about the future of SEO and where AI fits in, whack on some headphones and have a listen:

Thanks so much to Kate Toon for having me on as the Keyword Research Expert for her Recipe for SEO Success course.

While it feels like a lifetime ago when I did her course (2017), it's still always amazing to come into her community to give back and know after all these years Kate still creates the most amazing and welcoming online spaces around her.

Love being a part of it.

This Coffs Coast BWN lunch with my fabulous friend Kate Toon as the speaker came at the most perfect time.

Got to be surrounded by so many of the wonderful women doing AMAZING things in our community. Plus I got the added bonus of catching up with fab writers from Grassy Head to Grafton and in between.

Collaboration over competition - that's been my mantra since day dot. Largely inspired from my very first baby steps into business some years ago. I discovered Kate when setting up my business and her wonderful uplifting online communities instantly became the place for me. Kate has created and fostered communities grounded in support, empathy and abundance. With a heap of fun and humour thrown in there too. If you lead with all that, you'll always win.

We're incredibly pleased to be working with some awesome businesses at the moment. From website builds, to copywriting and SEO work.

To ensure we give them the best experience possible we've humbly closed our books to new clients until mid January next year.

So if you're looking to get a new website, or need SEO or copywriting help book a chat with us to see how we can get you putting your best foot forward online in 2023.

If you're an existing client or already in discussions with us, don't worry we'll always make the time for you. You're on our radar and we've got you covered to start your project this side of Christmas.

To our copywriting pals, you're good too. The geek in Cath lives for SEO audits and keyword research so she'll always have a place for you to book in. 10 days or more turnaround is ideal though 😬

About a week and a half ago I did a Digital Marketing preso for the Coffs Harbour Chamber of Commerce.

Someone who couldn't make it along asked if I could share my slides with them so they could catch up. Here is a selection of some of my slides.

While I'm a wordsmith, when it comes to presentations, I am always of the belief that a powerful presentation doesn't need many words on the actual slides. All it needs is clarity. Someone who came to my presentation could understand what each of these slides mean.

It's easy to be tempted to jam all my thoughts onto a slide, but these really thoughts are designed to be power packed into my speaker notes.

Minimal words on slides I've found help an audience stay focused and not get distracted to spend more time reading slides instead of listening to what I have to say.

When your audience reads, they don't hear you.

What do you think? How much info do you include in your speaker presentation slides?

And for those that missed out, when I get some down time I'll record a webinar of the slides for anyone who is interested.

Someone has started an Insta account and stolen my pic. Don't follow or engage in DMs, it's not me. I don't use Insta for a personal account and rarely use it for business these days either. So just report the account and block please peeps!

So it has been a hot minute (3.5 months 😲🤯) since I've been on socials. With Christmas, school holidays and a family of consecutive Covid isos the past few months have been a bit of a blur.

So while I've not been on socials much, there has been plenty happening behind the scenes. I was so excited yesterday afternoon to receive an email letting me know I'd been accepted as one of 24 women across regional and rural Australia to receive the Rural NSW Scholarship for 2022 thanks to and .taylor

I might have let out an actual squeal! And clapped for myself too 🤣 I can't wait to take this opportunity and make the absolute most of it during this coming year.

My love of doing business in regional Australia should come as no surprise to anyone. When I was recording my podcast the past few years, it's been an absolute honour to share the stories of businesses booming beyond the city limits. As well as embracing and celebrating my core ethos of collaboration over competition.

I'm sure over the next year I am going to learn and be inspired so much by the other women I am sharing this journey with. I also hope to be able to contribute much of my experience and knowledge as a female business and community leader and add value where I can along the way.

I'm grateful to have created a business for myself that allows me to give so much of my time in having an impact in my local community and being a voice for female leadership in the important conversations that shapes our region (even when these conversations can be uncomfortable). From the local mums Facebook community I created, to the Coffs Coast Business Women's Network committee, Chamber of Commerce Board and so much more in between, I get so much happiness in giving back to the place I call home.

Given I've been MIA, I failed to mention that back in December I was super stoked to have won the Professional Services award as part of the Coffs Coast Business Awards.

2022 hasn't had the smoothest start, this has been the kick I need to get excited about what's to come. I can’t wait for the in March.

Steve Jobs once said great things in business are never done by one person. And this new website we recently completed is proof of that.

We had such a great experience bringing Spoilt Hair Retreat's brand vision to life with the wonderful project management, marketing and copywriting skills of Lisa from Barrels Marketing. And the openness and vision of business owner and senior stylist Mel.

With a clear idea of what the brand wanted to represent and a great gallery of personalised images to choose from, the outcome for this website was always going to be one we're proud of.

Check it out here: https://www.spoilthair.com.au/

If you're looking for an affordable website build get in touch. We've got one space left for a December website build.

Four years ago yesterday I walked out of my last corporate sales and marketing role back in Sydney. After having sold our home and quit my job.

At this stage I was still thinking there was a good chance someone in Coffs would see my talent and snap me up for a marketing role.

Yeah, so that didn’t happen.

So instead I did what I probably should have done quite a few years before. I started my own business.

With the move to the Coffs Coast, it was important to me to become a part of my new local community.

So early on I went to a lot of networking events. And I just asked people about what they did. I had no business cards, I never pushed my business. I just had a genuine desire to get to know awesome people that make up our community.

One such person was Alyson from Alykat Creative Gallery & Studio. We met at the first Linkedin Local meeting I went to, and chatted for a bit because she’d recently moved back to the area around the same time.

She let me know about her beautiful work and I checked out her website later that day. The second I laid my eyes on her “The Horses Will Play” piece I was in love.

I’m sure it holds a particular meaning for Alyson, but for me when I look at this gorgeous artwork this is what I feel.

The carousel represents me on the merry go round of my corporate career. Around and around I went for over 17 years.

Before I finally decided to free myself. Jump off the edge and dive into business ownership.

Some days I’m like the horse in the water frolicking and embracing the sunshine.

Other days I feel like I’m barely treading water and absolutely drowning in the responsibility of deadlines and doing it all.

But you wouldn’t get me back on that carousel for anything. This little horse has quit that circus for good.

This artwork has pride and place on the wall in my office as a reminder that even on the days I’m drowning, I’m free.

In very good company there.

I firmly believe all of us are leaders in our own right. A leader of self, of family, of industry and of our community.

Great leaders don’t actually set out to be leaders. What they really do is set out to make a difference.
