To help keep your brain folding over in boredom during this self-isolation period, lcdc.co has come up with a creative challenge for every day of this week. Today’s challenge—an origami cat box!

Origami is known to be the most fun you can have, legally, with a bit of paper. This cat box requires two paper squares - one 15 x 15cm across for the body, and another 11.25 x 11.25cm for the head. If you cut your own out of office paper, you should be able to make both from a single A4.

The adorable cat box design was created by the incredible Leyla Torres. A link to the tutorial and video can be found here:

To help keep your brain tissue from turning necrotic during this self-isolation period, lcdc.co has come up with a creative challenge for every day of this week. Today’s challenge—making a puzzle to share!

Find-a-word puzzles are easy to create and can allow for a little bit of cheek depending on who you plan to send your puzzle to. You can create a find-a-word quite easily by hand by setting up a 15 x 15 grid and writing your chosen words as interconnected rows and columns, then filling the blank spaces with letters. Thankfully we live in a modern age, and have computers able to handle the task for us. Simply click the publish tab when you’re done to share your gift with the world.

To help keep the creative juices flowing during this self-isolation period, lcdc.co has come up with a creative challenge for every day of this week. Today’s challenge—a lucid daydream!

Well, we can’t get inside your head, so how this experience pans out is up to you. First thing is to relax—stare straight ahead without focusing on anything and breathe slow and deep. If you’re able to daydream on command, go ahead and spend the next 15 minutes zoning out and giving your mind space to explore, it’s one of the most restorative things you can do. If you don’t have that gift, I want you to close your eyes and imagine you’re at your local grocery store. Imagine walking into the store. Imagine wandering around. Then imagine, as you come up to the section where coconut water usually sits, there’s nothing except an off-white, leathery turtle egg. What would you do from here? Close your eyes and imagine it.

To help keep your brain working during this self-isolation period, lcdc.co has come up with a creative challenge for every day of this week. Today’s challenge—a flip book animation!

Grab any notebook—a regular newsagency notebook with thin paper is perfect—and go to the back page. With a dark pencil (or pen that doesn’t bleed) draw your starting character (stick figures welcome!) in the bottom right hand corner of the page. The closer to the corner of the page your characters are, the smoother you can flip your animation. After you finish your scene, flip down the page above it and redraw the scene with a slight change—thinner paper allows you to see the previous drawing easier. If the paper is too thick, you might have to hold each page up to a window or computer screen as you draw. After 3 or 4 frames, you should be able to see a little animation as you flip through the page corners. Continue until you’re happy with your masterpiece.
