T&DA and the Australian Pavilion: A Global Showcase of Creative Innovation

As World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai enters its final stage, T&DA proudly celebrates its partnership with the Australian Pavilion. The team created cinematic content for the Pavilion that captured the spirit of Australia; including its stunning landscapes, creative energy, and welcoming people. By emphasising the theme “Chasing the Sun” we ensured visitors experienced Australia as a nation of innovation, diversity, and possibility.

T&DA’s role at Expo 2025 reflects the ambition and scale of what’s achievable with visionary partners at the intersection of design, technology, and storytelling. This collaboration showcased the depth of Australia’s creative industries and strengthened cultural ties in a way that resonates far beyond the Expo; rather than just a project, this collaboration was a statement of intent.

“As we look ahead to Brisbane 2032, this journey has been a vital stepping stone,” said Ray Leung, Creative Director of Technology at T&DA. “Expo 2025 gave us the opportunity to push creative boundaries and demonstrate the power of Australian innovation on a global stage.”

From Osaka to Brisbane, T&DA remains committed to forging partnerships that inspire, engage, and leave a lasting legacy.

T&DA x Mitsubishi Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan

When Dentsu asked us to lead art direction for this 8-minute film for the Mitsubishi Pavilion at Expo 2025, directed by long-time collaborator Kato-san(Dentsu Live), we knew it was an ambitious brief. The story spans from the origins of life to a speculative future, shown on a massive curved LED screen.

This was a one-off visual experience for a one-off venue. The curved format forced us to rethink composition, motion, and pacing. We even built a VR replica of the pavilion to preview how content would play above and around the audience.

We storyboarded the entire film and partnered with global studios including The Monk, Kassen, and STUDIO4℃, each handling a chapter. T&DA delivered the space travel sequence and final edit, while we supervised creatively across the board.

The result is a cinematic, spatially aware journey designed entirely for this unique screen, a celebration of life on Earth and beyond.

Experience the film at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

T&DA X Subway | Welcome to Cheesetopia

We created an animated spot to advertise Subway's Cheesy Garlic Bread with the help of AI tools and traditional vfx methods, giving us total control on the composition and animation of the final picture.

The process starts out similar to traditional animation; creating a storyboard, designing worlds and characters, and settling upon an aesthetic that perfectly portrays delicious cheese. We then trained a Cheesy LoRA model to generate the consistent cheese that we could use across the different environments. We brought individual elements to life with AI motion models and layered them all in 3D with compositing magic. By isolating elements, we give AI the ability to concentrate on details leading to more accurate results.

By bringing craft into the production pipeline, we can elevate AI commercial creation beyond just prompt engineering. In this instance we had a two week timeline, creatively lead by Chris (Cheesy) Breeze.

For this LABs project, T&DA experimented with a mixed media pipeline that combines analog, AI and interactive AR. Inspired by Netflix Black Mirror S7E5 Eulogy, we utilised Wan 2.1 with a 360 I2V LoRA which let us view our photographed memories from new angles. We experimented with how this LoRA interprets our 35mm film stock photography and hand-drawn vandalisms into floating 3D elements.

Using target tracking in Lens Studio, we let users explore these hallucinated perspectives by orbiting their camera around the lenticular polaroid. We paired DepthCrafter (a temporally stable video2depth model) with our depth projection shader to enhance the parallax effect and give the polaroids a physical presence in augmented space.
