During his time in office, the Commonwealth played a major role in several defining Territory issues, including the overturning of the NT’s euthanasia law, the Northern Territory Intervention and the continuing debate over statehood and greater autonomy.

Mr Howard also developed strong relationships with many Territorians across politics, sport, business and Indigenous leadership.

Honoured to share that The Tiwi Warrior and the Samurai from the Sky is screening today at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory as part of the February 19 commemoration of the Bombing of Darwin.

This day marks the most devastating attack ever carried out on Australian soil, a moment that changed the Territory forever.

Proud that this Northern Territory story of Matthias Ulungura and Hajime Toyoshima is being shared on such an important day of remembrance.

🎬 As part of the 84th Commemorations for the Bombing of Darwin, MAGNT presents “The Tiwi Warrior and the Samurai from the Sky”.

Discover the remarkable true story of Matthias Ulungura, who captured Australia’s first Japanese prisoner of war, Hajime Toyoshima, after his crash landing on the Tiwi Islands following the first bombing of Darwin on 19 February 1942.

Revealing a unique moment in Australia’s wartime history, Toyoshima was captured not by military personnel, but by a non-combatant Tiwi man.

🎬 Camera Assistant Wanted – Next Week (Darwin)

TvWorks is looking for a reliable camera assistant to join us on a shoot next week.

We’re a Darwin-based production company with decades of broadcast TV, documentary, and branded content experience and we like working with good people in small, professional crews.

What we’re looking for:
• Solid knowledge of video equipment
• Ability to shoot B-roll if required
• Comfortable on set and happy to jump in
• Positive attitude and team player

The gig:
• 12-hour day (including travel)
• Small crew / experienced operators
• Fun, fast-moving shoot with great on-set learning
