Is it time to level up how you’re using AI?

At our *AI in Action* workshop last night, one thing became clear — people are no longer just experimenting with AI… they’re using it regularly. But with that comes a new kind of frustration:

• Hallucinations
• Losing direction mid-task
• Forgetting what you’ve already taught it

The second workshop in our series is designed to take you beyond the basics. In our introductory session, we explored the power of AI tools like ChatGPT. Last night, we introduced Claude… and it genuinely blew people’s minds.

We’ll say it — we love ChatGPT.
But right now, we’re a little obsessed with Claude.

If you’re ready to understand what’s possible, and how to actually control your AI so it works the way you want, join us for the online version of last night’s workshop next week.

We’ll also be hitting the road soon — with Alice Springs, Katherine and Jabiru coming up in the weeks ahead.

If you’re ready to move from experimenting to mastering AI, this is your next step.

Captovate is officially supporting the Deadly Racing Team — a powerful initiative driving real change across the Northern Territory.

Deadly Racing is more than just motorsport. It’s a groundbreaking program creating pathways for Indigenous youth, particularly those from regional and remote communities, to develop practical skills, build confidence, and pursue careers in the automotive and motorsport industries. By combining racing with training and mentorship, this initiative is helping shape brighter futures.

We invite our community to get behind the Deadly Racing Team and support this incredible journey as they work toward representing the Northern Territory on the national stage.

Darwin – Learn AI. Apply it. Create with it.

AI is no longer optional. But knowing where to start — or how to take it further — is the real challenge.

This March, Captovate is running two practical, face-to-face workshops designed for small businesses ready to build real capability (and walk away with usable outcomes).

📍 4 March – AI Essentials

For those new to AI, or unsure how to apply it confidently in business.

In this hands-on session, you’ll use AI to:
• Build a structured business plan
• Research peers and competitors
• Develop a practical marketing plan
• Create starter social content

You won’t just learn about AI — you’ll use it to think, plan and structure your business more strategically.

📍 5 March – AI Content Creation

For those already using AI (or who’ve attended previous Captovate workshops) and want to lift the quality and speed of their content.

This workshop builds on the fundamentals and focuses on ex*****on. You’ll actively create:
• AI-generated images
• Short-form video content
• Voice and sound enhancements
• Stronger prompts for better creative outcomes

New tools are landing fast — this session helps you learn how to direct them, without feeling overwhelmed.

Why a gorilla? Because it’s part of who we are. When Captovate opened its doors in 2004, Managing Director Michael had one simple request for the outside of our office: something that makes a statement.

With a nod to Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution, our designer sketched a gorilla — strong, adaptable and a bit unexpected. Nailed it. The gorilla went up on our Austin Lane wall and quietly became one of the city’s first pieces of street art, long before Darwin grew into the vibrant gallery it is today.

Two decades on, people still ask about that gorilla. For us, it’s always been more than a playful mascot. It represents what Captovate stands for — strength, evolution and the confidence to stand out.

Whether we’re building your website, shaping your digital strategy or launching your next big campaign, we approach it with bold thinking, creativity and a little flair.

"We’re not just creating digital experiences. We’re building legacies. And sometimes, they start with a roar."

At our recent AI content creation workshop, one of the attendees asked how to swap out the logo on staff shirts with their new branding — right after I confidently said it was possible. Naturally, when we tried it live, the logo came out massive or the AI decided to “improve” the person instead. Classic.

Since then, Google has updated their image editor, Nano Banana, to the new Pro version. So I gave it another crack — and check out the result. I deliberately chose a tricky photo: busy background, lots of shirt creases, and historically AI has struggled with recreating my features. But this one absolutely nailed it.

The secret? Pro lets you keep refining the same image instead of starting from scratch every time.

I started by asking it to generate the logo as embroidered stitching — thread texture, stitch depth, the whole lot. Then I asked it to wrap that embroidery over the natural folds in the shirt, and finally replace the original logo.

Being able to build on the previous output is a total game changer.

When a cyclone’s on the radar, every Territorian’s got a “proper” kit…Batteries? Check. Torches? Check.
Two-minute noodles and a carton?
Our favourite gorilla’s been busy putting together his own prep — and yes, he may have leaned a little too hard into the noodles section at Woolworths.
A little humour goes a long way to calming the nerves, but staying safe comes first.

Take care of yourselves, look out for your neighbours, and keep an eye on the official updates.
Stay safe, everyone.

AI’s latest video tools aren’t just clips—they’re full productions. VEO 3.1 and Sora 2 can turn a few lines of text into shots that look straight out of a movie trailer.
