Almost two years ago I started Highlight Creative in a town that a lot of people would've told me was too small to bother.

I didn't see it that way then. I still don't.

What I've watched over the past two years - in Deni, across the Riverina, in small towns all over regional Australia - is businesses doing genuinely remarkable work.

The kind of work that would thrive anywhere.

And yet so many of them are carrying it all on the back of systems that weren't built for them, technology that feels out of reach, and an online presence that doesn't come close to reflecting what they've actually built.

That gap is why I'm here.

I've always moved fast with technology. The tools that help businesses run better - automation, data, digital systems - I've been quietly obsessed with them for years. Not because I think every business needs to become a tech company.

But because I've seen what happens when a regional business gets access to the right tools, properly set up.

The admin gets lighter. The enquiries get cleaner. The owner gets their headspace back.

Those tools exist. They're not just for the big firms in the cities anymore.

To everyone in this community who's trusted us with their business over the past two years - thank you. That trust isn't something I take lightly.

Year three is going to be something.

Nearly 20 years ago, a Deni mum watched her son learn to fly.

She noticed something. Aviation training was completely different from how we teach young people to drive. More rigorous. More honest about consequences.

She took the idea to the P&C.

What grew from that conversation became one of the most remarkable community road safety programs in regional Australia.

Every year, the Deniliquin High School Driver Education Program runs for roughly 50-80 Year 10 students across a full week.

Mock accidents. Police stations. Hospital. Morgue. Practical driving. Heavy vehicle awareness. Maritime safety. First aid. Real consequences ... made tangible.

And every year, around 40 community volunteers show up to make it happen. šŸ¤

Police officers. Emergency nurses. Car club members. Past students who came back to give their time.

Nobody ever said no.

Last year, we spent a week filming everything - every session, every interview, every voice - and built the hero video this program had always deserved.

25+ hours of footage.
One long-form hero video.
8 short-form reels.
A story finally told properly.

"Any community can do this."
- Jenny Fellows, Program Coordinator

Regional communities do extraordinary things.
They deserve extraordinary storytelling.

Mist moving across the Edward River.
Deni in the first cold snap of the year. This was taken a few weeks back and, honestly, we stood there way longer than we should have.

Growing up here, I couldn’t wait to leave. I wanted something bigger, something better. So I chased it - almost 14 years away studying, working, collecting experience in different places.

But something funny happens when you leave a place that’s actually good. Every time I came back to visit, I saw it differently. The river. The history. The way strangers still wave. The kind of community that just quietly holds you, whether you’ve been gone a week or a decade.

Each visit, I felt it pulling me back a little harder. In 2022, I stopped fighting it and came home.

The four years since have been a blur - fast and full and exactly what I didn’t know I needed. I get to do what I love, in the place that made me, for the kinds of businesses and communities I grew up believing in.

I didn’t just come back to Deni. I came back to myself.

That’s why I care so deeply about regional businesses being seen properly. Because towns like this one deserve to thrive - and the people building them deserve to be proud of how they show up.

A few weeks ago, something pretty special happened in Deniliquin.

Young artists came together, wrote original music, rehearsed it, and then stepped onto the famous stage to share it with their community.

There were no shortcuts or covers, it was their own work and their own stories.

And their community showed up for them. šŸ¤

That’s what Vibe Check was about, and it’s something worth building on.

So glad we got to be involved in this one. Thank you .com.au šŸ˜šŸ«¶šŸŽ¶

Even on the hardest days, I love this job.

Like genuinely, actually, for real... love it.

I don’t take that lightly - I know how rare that can feel sometimes.

I love my team. I love the things I get to create. I love growing every day. And I wouldn’t swap it.

After the silence, this.

The Dawn Service ends and everyone finds their way inside.

Warm food, strong coffee, and conversations that only happen on this one morning a year.

A moment captured at the Deni RSL Gunfire Breakfast. Lest we forget. 🌿

This morning, Deniliquin stood still for a moment.

Danny will be out across the local area today, documenting what ANZAC Day looks like in our little corner of regional Australia - the quiet, the cold, the communities showing up together.

There’s something about a Dawn Service in a town like our own. Everyone knows someone. That makes it mean a little more.

Lest we forget. 🌿

Today is World Creativity and Innovation Day - and we're celebrating the only way we know how. šŸŽØ

We gave everyone on the team one brief: draw a house.

We also roped in a couple of special guest artists. (They may be under 10. We're not saying more than that.)

Don't forget to comment your favourite so we can choose a winner.šŸ‘‡

Before there was a brand… there was just this.

A mum. A moment. And a quiet ā€œthere has to be a better way.ā€

Big Hug didn’t come from a brainstorm.
It came from real life. The kind you can’t script.
The messy bits.

The overwhelming moments.
The ones most people don’t see.

We’ve had a front row seat to this from the beginning - and watching Lucy turn that into something that’s now helping other families… it’s a big deal.

We’re not rushing what comes next.

Because this part matters just as much.

The why.
The care.
The intention behind it all.

This is Lucy. And this is where Big Hug began.

If you’re here early, you’re part of something special.
Follow along for more calm moments šŸ¤

Hands up if you've ever typed your website URL and hesitated before hitting send.

Yeah. Me too.

And I was literally building websites for other people every day.

We see it all the time - solid, established businesses doing great work… but online, it looks like they’re still figuring it out.

So when someone asks for your website, you hesitate.
You explain it away.

You say ā€œit’s a work in progress.ā€

That little cringe feeling?

That’s not in your head. It’s costing you.

Not because your work isn’t good enough -
but because your online presence isn’t backing you properly.

More traffic won’t fix it.
A quick redesign won’t fix it.

You need structure.
Clear messaging.
And a system that actually handles enquiries like it should.

That’s the difference.

Swipe through - this is what it actually looks like when it’s done right.
