"We just need more people to see our ads"

Often, we hear business owners who are convinced that all they need to be successful is a greater awareness of their products or services. A big-budget can only do so much if the content isn’t engaging people.

We have been looking for an example that proves more ads does not mean more results. At last, we have one everyone can relate to!

With an ad spend estimated to be between $60,000,000 and $100,000,000 Clive Palmer was everywhere; he was on billboards, sending text messages, YouTube ads, and he even had an hour-long advertisement on Channel 10.

The result...less than 500,000 votes and no seats in either house of parliament.

More ads does not mean more success.

Get the product right first!

You wouldn't leave the keys in the ignition or leave the office without locking up, but this is what so many people do with their online security.

Kiyomee Blends owner Kathy Kiedrzynski had built an audience of 43,000 active engaged followers on Instagram before one click caused her to lose control of her account to hackers. Setting up 2-factor authentication would have taken less than 5 minutes, but kept her account safe from malicious actors.

If you use any services from Google, Microsoft, Meta or Xero to perform business-critical functions, ALWAYS set up 2 Factor Authentication and make sure you practice good password hygiene.

✅ Use a unique password for every service you use
✅ Use a complex password with 8+ characters
✅ Change your password regularly
✅ Never send your password in clear text to anyone

Here's the article detailing Kathy's experience...

"Facebook Jobs" has left the building!

Meta has announced they have removed the ability for businesses outside of the US and Canada to post jobs on their page as of the end of February. Unfortunately, the error message when you go to create a job is not brilliant (You've accessed a page that is not available).

You can read more about it here https://www.facebook.com/business/help/982945655901961

So where can you post job that isn't going to cost a small fortune?

Try Job Active, Jora, Adzuna, Indeed and of course just a regular post via Fb.

What's the half-life of your content?

Scientists know the exact half-life of a Hydrogen-7 molecule to be around 2 Jiffies (and yes that is a measure of time).

They also know that Carbon 14 has a half-life of ~5730 years which is handy for Carbon dating all manner of ancient things.

When we produce content it is useful to consider what the half-life of that content will be.

Will our market still be talking about it tomorrow, next month, next year even?

Or, will it more likely fly past their eyeballs as they scroll through the endless feed filled with insignificant noise, hunting for that next distraction?

Over the last few years, there has been a move towards publishing more material, more often with less thought.

It's what you need to do to satisfy the algorithm, social media experts will tell you.

Post daily, no twice daily with videos shot live.

But what would happen if you decided to produce just one piece of hero content, that captured the attention of your audiences and changed the way they saw both your brand and perhaps even themself.

Well, it seems someone has answered this question for us! Australian Lamb puts the majority of their marketing efforts into creating a single hero video each year, that captures the zeitgeist and poke holes in all the things we love about being Australian. It is funny, clever and contemporary, and let's face it what's not to love about Lambassador Sam Kekovich being suitably offensive? This content grabs all of our attention and sinks into our culture.

Yep, they've got a big budget. Yep, they've trained us all to wait for the Australia Day drop. Yep, they've got a big name in Sam.

But wouldn't you rather focus all of your attention on producing something that connects than posting another 200 Canva posts that slide through your audience feed, never gaining attention, let alone traction?

If you're ready to Rethink your approach to content creation, get in touch with us. We'd love to discuss your ideas and share a few of our own with a view to creating something that really connects with your market.

Oh and if you haven't already seen it make sure to check out this year's video. I love Mark McGowan's map at the very end.

Can a couple of curious explorers reunite Australia with the rest of the world? Anything’s possible with the help of Lamb.

Love those shoppable posts on Instagram?

7West Media are bringing the same easy buy experience to your 7plus streaming experience. This extends way beyond a click to buy ad and is planned to be fully integrated into their content.

See a drill they use in an episode of Better Homes and Gardens just pause the episode and you can buy it, like the anchovy souffle they are making on MKR...just click and you can have the ingredients delivered to your door.

The possibilities are limitless!

Seven Upfront: Seven has announced a series of commercial improvements and additions that include 7Shop, 7Rewards, 7REDIQ, and CODE 7+

Spotting a fake review is easy when you know what to look for. Check out this article from the ABC for some pointers

Fake reviews are one of the most egregious breaches of trust a business can perform. Just one fake review can undermine your entire reputation.

And remember if you see a fake review, always report it.

As more and more Australians rely on online reviews to make purchasing decisions, a better understanding of how online comments work is crucial in filtering out false testimonials.
