Those three little dots on social media posts?
They’re more powerful than most people realise. Use them wisely...
When you click them, you can tell the platform things like:
• Not interested
• Show me less of this
• Hide this account
• Report inappropriate content
Every time you do that, the algorithm learns what you want to see more of, or less.
This can be really helpful - for example, if something is explicit, misleading, or just plain rubbish, you don’t have to keep seeing it.
But there’s another side to this.
If you only ever hide opinions you disagree with, you can accidentally build yourself an echo chamber where you only see one viewpoint.
A healthy feed still has a range of perspectives.
Remember - every social media platform has the same goal:
to keep you on the platform for as long as possible. The algorithm will show you whatever keeps you scrolling.
So use those three dots wisely.
Shape your feed… but don’t shrink your world.
