To all of the beautiful families and communities who I have had the privilege to serve, I want to share something personal with you.
It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to walk alongside so many families across Adelaide and Adelaide’s northern suburbs. To be trusted in such tender and heartbreaking moments is something I have never taken lightly. So many of the families I have served have become much more than just people I have helped through a funeral, in many ways, I have felt like I have become a small part of their family, and they a part of mine.
That is why this announcement is not an easy one to make.
After a lot of thought and reflection, We have made the decision to move on from our Pooraka facility, which has now been acquired by Bare Funeral Group.
This decision has not come from a lack of love for the work. In fact, it is because I care so deeply about what I do that I have had to make it. The truth is, I am tired. Anyone who knows me knows I have poured my heart and soul into this work, into the families I serve, and into being there whenever I am needed. But I have reached a point where I need to slow down a little, so I can continue giving families the quality of care, time, and personal attention they truly deserve.
I also need to give a little more of myself back to the people waiting for me at home, my beautiful wife Becky, and our four beautiful babies, who are my whole world.
Country Road Funerals is still here, and I am still here.
I will now be focusing my time more in the northern regions, based out of our Angaston funeral home. For families in Adelaide, I will still personally come to you for arrangements and logistics, and personal viewings and other care practices will take place at Enfield Memorial Park.
While the location of some things may change, my heart for this work never will.
To every family who has placed their trust in me over the years, thank you. Thank you for allowing me into your lives in some of your hardest moments. Thank you for the handshakes, the hugs, the tears, the stories, and the trust. I carry so many of those families with me every single day and always will.
And to those beautiful families I have had the privilege to serve in the past, please know this, if I am ever needed, I will always do my best to be there.
This is not the end of Country Road Funerals. It is simply a new chapter. One that allows me to keep serving families with the same heart, the same compassion, and the same personal care, while also making a little more room for my own family, who have stood beside me through it all.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for continuing to support Country Road Funerals and my family. It truly means more than words can say.
