I recently finished cutting these absolutely monster sized Australian sapphires, and they are easily some of the most special stones to ever leave my wheel.

Every single gem you see here is over 15 carats! Finding Australian sapphire rough in these sizes is incredibly rare, let alone getting finished gems with this kind of presence and personality. Hard work pays off, and seeing these come to life makes every hour (and theres alot hours) on the faceting machine worth it. 🇦🇺

Radioactive Zircons! ☢️

Here we have a 2.35ct Pink Zircon, it may look delicate, but its color is powered by a microscopic nuclear engine. How it works - Atomic Traps - The crystal contains trace amounts of natural uranium and thorium, Over millions of years, faint radiation punched microscopic gaps into the atomic structure, These gaps trap loose electrons, forcing the gem to swallow blue light and reflect a soft pink hue. Is it dangerous? Not at all. The radiation is so incredibly low that it is safer than your phone!

4.5ct Australian sapphire fresh of the wheel this morning! Awesome brightness and colour on this one. Really starting to enjoy cutting ovals now, they take a lot longer than most other shapes but very satisfying when done. Unheated and measures 11.7 x 8.5 x 6.1
