The journey. Local artist Miranda Lloyd is very excited to have teamed up again with Charlie Scalzi from God’s Hill Wines Barossa Valley to release another art wine series. Their last collaboration was 10 years ago.
Award winning winemaker Charlie Scalzi from God’s Hill Wines came across Miranda Lloyd’s art works at the National Wine Centre of Australia back in 2013 and then produced the art wine series “Divine” her artworks the Wine Glasses and the Vine were used for their 2012 Chardonnay and 2011 Shiraz.
10 years on they have collaborated together again realising “The Birds of God’s Hill, 2022 Single Vineyard 100% Barossa Shiraz”. Release date July 2023. Wine maker Charlie Scalzi selected Miranda's bird artworks for his new art wine series because of the birds you will find visiting his winery and the Rondine (swallow) which connects to his childhood memories back in Italy when the Rondine migrated every year back in spring to their nest under his home gutters of Zolli.
The series includes the artists textured original artworks such as the Magpie, Galahs, Kookaburra, Rainbow Lorikeets, Sulphur Crested Cockatoo and the Rondine (Swallow) commissioned by Charlie which hangs now at his cellar door.

God’s Hill Wines – Scalzi Estate Background: A family business producing a selection of premium quality red and white wines, situated in the famous Barossa Valley. Our style is a continuation of a tradition which has been practiced since Roman times in the Campania region of Central Italy. After establishing God's Hill Vineyard with his family, Charlie Scalzi's love and passion for fine wine created the God's Hill Wines label. In doing so he has followed in the footsteps of his ancestors; bringing an ancient tradition to a new land.
God's Hill Wines specialises in small batch boutique wines. The combination of naturally occurring fertile soil and the deeply respectful winemaking methodology makes for a wine experience that is unique. The vineyard is set in the wine region the original inhabitants called Poonawatta which means my fertile land. God's Hill Wines are made from a careful selection of premium grapes from Charlie's God's Hill vineyard carefully tended by the vigneron Felice Scalzi, Charlie's son and since 2020 his eldest grandson Nicholas joined the team to make sure the Scalzi winemaking tradition continues in the future.
