How good is this! Cameron Johnston, the son of our Managing Director - Carson Brooks' mate, Paul Johnston has just signed with the Buffalo Bills as their new punter this morning!!!

It’s been a massive 12 months for Cameron Johnston A brutal knee injury with the Steelers ended his season in Week 1 last year, and less than two weeks ago he was de-listed, that’s the cut-throat reality of the NFL unfortunately. But after grinding through 6+ hours of rehab a day, he’s shown exactly what grit and determination can achieve. To come back so quickly from such a nasty injury and get himself back on the field is nothing short of amazing.

I (Carson Brooks - The managing Director of SportsWeb Australia) was lucky enough to catch up with Cam, his wife Tia, and his dad Paul Johnston earlier this year at his sister’s wedding, a very hot 40-plus degree day with a few refreshments flowing. You could see how focused he was on making it back, but also realistic about the brutal nature of the NFL. Pretty sure it was one of his rare days off training, a well earned respite and day to enjoy family and friends.

After three strong seasons with the Eagles and another three at the Texans, Cameron has built an impressive career. Now heading into his 8th NFL season with a genuine Super Bowl contender in the Bills, this is bloody great news.

Huge congrats to Cam, Tia and their young family over in the States, to Paul, and the whole Johnston crew. Exciting times ahead, there’ll be plenty of early mornings cheering him on with every punt down in G-Town!!!

This afternoon we made our way to Kardinia Park to capture some action from the Geelong 1st Grade team’s clash against Prahran in the Victoria Premier Cricket League. Our focus was on debutant Cody Brogden, formerly of the Geelong City Cricket Club.

After an impressive bowling effort that dismissed Prahran for 182, Cody opened the batting alongside Eamonn Vines. Both looked composed against the early pace, with Cody making a confident start, hitting 3 boundaries before being dismissed LBW by leg spinner Tom Brooks for 13.
