Some people meditate.
Some people journal.
And some people spend their free time painting a galah inspired by a cigarette ad from the 1980s.

As a Gen Xer / Xennial, "Only a Galah Would Suck Tar" sits somewhere in the same part of my brain as Hey Hey It's Saturday, Hypercolour T-shirts, and rewinding and replaying cassette tapes a hundred times while trying to work out the lyrics to my favourite song.

I love that those wonderfully weird Australian ads somehow became part of our national vocabulary and honestly, it felt rude not to paint it 🤪

⭑ FUN FACT ⭑

I originally started blogging back in 2013.

I'd just had my fifth child and, looking back, probably didn't fully acknowledge I was drowning a little...
OK, truthfully, a lot!

My version of self-care or 'me-time' wasn't yoga, getting a massage, or touching grass.

It was writing.

I'd always loved words. Stories. Poetry. Creative, sarcastic, swear-word style writing.

Writing was how I processed the big feelings growing up, the messy moments of parenting, and the thoughts of everyday life as a wife and woman.

Then in early 2018, something unexpected happened.

One of my more risqué, tongue-in-cheek, heavy on the sarcasm style blogs took off and ended up being featured on Huffington Post.

A little while later I received an email from an editor who had recently moved from Huffington Post to Channel 10's new website, Ten Daily.

He wanted to republish the article.

His exact words?
"Your amazing s*x post was our most-clicked piece of all time at Huffington Post."

Look, he could have exaggerated the truth here to sweeten the deal - I'll never know - and they were going to pay me.

The answer should have been obvious, right?

Except by that stage I'd received some pretty awful messages, nasty comments and a few online death threats from disgruntled men who apparently had very strong feelings about women writing things on the internet.

I was a people-pleaser and hadn't yet learnt that not every opinion deserved a place in my (very heavy) backpack.

At the same time, we'd just lost my father-in-law AND I'd started a new career in real estate.

So I politely declined.

And I don't regret it.

At the time, protecting my peace and safe-guarding my family and career felt more important than chasing an opportunity.

The only regrets I have are not having better comebacks for some of those men and tougher skin 🤪

Thankfully age and experience have greatly improved the thickness of my skin - though I'm not sure it's thick enough for the new 2026 version of haters!

So if you've found yourself wondering why I'm suddenly writing longer form content...

The truth is, I'm not.

I've been doing it for a very long time.

I'm just finally letting myself share it again 🩷

If you've landed here recently - accidentally or intentionally - welcome! 🫶

And if you've had a scroll and found yourself wondering what exactly Pink Cactus Co is, you're probably not alone.

The simple answer?
It's where all my creative worlds collide.

Pink Cactus Co began as a social media business in 2023.
These days, I create content for and manage 10+ businesses across WA - some who've been with me from the beginning. I absolutely love helping brands tell better stories online and connect with their audiences.

But social media is only one piece of the PCC puzzle.

Before content creation, there was blogging.
I've always loved writing.
The funny stories, the heartfelt stories, the relatable stories.
For a while I convinced myself there wasn't room for that kind of writing online anymore...

Turns out there is.

Then came painting.

I'd never painted before.
No art school.
No formal training.
I picked up a paintbrush during a particularly difficult chapter of life and discovered a creative outlet I didn't know I needed.

Somewhere between the canvases, the crime podcasts and the questionable amount of paint purchases, I fell completely in love with creating art.

So now you'll find a mix of things here.

Social media tips + strategies.
Business-y challenges + wins.
Old school blog style writing.
Art and experimental projects.
Creativity in all its forms.

Because Pink Cactus Co isn't really a social media business page anymore. It's a creative hub.

If you're here for social media support, hello, how can I help?
If you're here for the stories, welcome to my over-sharing.
If you're here for the art, be kind - I'm still learning.

Either way, I'm glad you're here 🌵🩷

One of my favourite things about content creation is helping others tell great stories, and over the past few months I've had the absolute privilege of creating content for the 2026 Mullewa Muster & Rodeo.

The numbers are pretty wild:

⭑ Over 185 pieces of content created
⭒ 1.11 million impressions
⭑ 53,460 interactions
⭒ 13,170 followers across social media
⭑ A S•O•L•D • O•U•T EVENT

Yet the numbers only tell part of the story!

Because behind every post was an event organiser, committee member, volunteer, sponsor, local business, farmer or community member working hard behind the scenes to make this kind of magic happen.

This is my second year working with the Mullewa Muster and it has cemented one thing for me:

This isn't just an event.

It's the very definition of community.

For some, it's a bucket-list experience. For others, it's the event of the year. But for everyone involved, it's community spirit in action.

So I want to say a personal congratulations to everyone who played a part in bringing another incredible Muster to life. Even Mother Nature couldn't stop you lot!

Thank you for trusting Pink Cactus Co to help tell the story.

I'm incredibly grateful to have been a small part of the 2026 Muster ❤️🤍🖤

Here's another painting that recently left my easel and found its forever home with Rach (+ Stu) ❤️

The concept for this piece was inspired by an AI-generated digital artwork shared with me as a reference image.

Because I believe artists deserve credit wherever possible, I went looking for the origins of the image and discovered similarities to The Waiter Dance by Pauline de Roussy, which may have influenced whoever created the AI-generated artwork. While I can’t know exactly what references were used to create the image, I wanted to acknowledge that possible inspiration.

From there, I put a Rach + Stu spin on it and recreated it as a hand-painted piece using acrylics, texture, and a whole lot of happy hours lost in creative mode.

Thanks to my daughter, Tiarna, for trusting me to create such a special one-off gift for Rach, and to Rach and Stu for giving it a place to call home ✨❤️

As I've mentioned recently, you'll be seeing a lot more of ALL my creative sides around here.

So here's a new artwork.

A small painting.
For a big heart.

It was an honour to paint this special girl for her human.

Meeko was so very loved for 12 wonderful years, and while saying goodbye is always incredibly hard, the love a pet gives lasts forever.

It means the world to know this little painting will be treasured for years to come ❤️

Is anyone else craving more depth online lately… or is it just me?

There’s so much content.
So much social media noise.
Way too many perfectly polished posts designed to perform.

And honestly?
It all makes me feel a bit… blergh.

I think we’re all getting a little exhausted by content that feels manufactured instead of meaningful… well, at least I am.

I desperately want something real.
Something thoughtful.
Something human.
Something that lingers after you close the app - in a good way.

I want something that MAKES me increase my deteriorating attention span which makes me question the way I show up online too… besides being wildly inconsistent 🤪

I’ve spent years creating content and helping businesses communicate online while randomly posting on my own page - trying to be “business-like” while quietly keeping parts of myself tucked away.

The writing. (The very wordy kind.)
The art.
The thoughts.
The observations.
The humour.
The messy moments.
The real life.

Because this is a “professional” space… right?

But it’s also MY space.

And I think I’m craving a more human internet now.

I want to share the whole fusion of who I am and what I do creatively because I’m not just one thing.

I’m layered.
I’m evolving.
I’m a combination of:
★ creativity
★ perspective
★ messiness
★ artistry
★ humour
★ overthinking
★ emotion
★ thoughtful chaos

And honestly?
I’d rather have fewer followers and more genuine connection.

More conversations.
More humanity.
More moments that make people pause…
…think.
…feel.
…reflect.
…reconnect with themselves or the real world somehow.

That’s where I’m heading.
That’s where this page is heading.

I don’t give a sh*t about performing.

Bring on more depth.
More artistry.
More randomness.
More of who I am and what I create.

Because this is my brand.
My space.
My little corner of the internet.

And I’m going to stamp my messy little fingerprints all over it 😘🌵✨

Proud to be sponsoring GJSA Country Week Soccer again in 2026 ⚽💗

As a soccer mum for nearly 20 years, I know just how special Country Week is for the kids, families, coaches, and volunteers involved.

Supporting country week soccer is something I genuinely love being part of, so saying yes again this year was easy!

Thanks for having Pink Cactus CO along for the ride again 🌵
