WHO’S IN THE ROOM? | KEN BIDGOOD | BMD

When we talk about the value of the room at Connecting Industry Events, it’s about bringing together people who are actively involved in delivering major projects and infrastructure across Queensland and Australia.

Joining us is Ken Bidgood from BMD Group, one of Australia’s leading integrated engineering, construction and urban development businesses, with capability across resources, energy, transport, ports, water, defence and major infrastructure. BMD also continues to expand its work across Central Queensland, including its recent appointment on Powerlink’s transmission infrastructure program.

The night before our next Connecting Industry Luncheon, we’ll be at Ward's Brewery on Tuesday, 6 October, bringing together attendees, partners, sponsors and presenters for our pre-event networking evening.

It’s an informal way to start the event and an opportunity to meet some of the people who’ll be in the room the following day. No presentations and no formalities, just a few hours to catch up, make introductions and start conversations with people from across Queensland and Australia.

Networking continues from 10.30am, before we sit down to hear from Andy Devene, who leads commercial and contracting activities for utility-scale renewable energy developments at Squadron Energy.

Andy will draw on lessons from previous projects, explore potential opportunities for the supply chain and provide practical guidance around supplier readiness, procurement processes and what businesses can do to build long-term partnerships with Squadron Energy in the region.

The presentations are only part of what makes the Connecting Uranium Forum Queensland valuable.

On 25 November, the Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre will bring together people from across Queensland and Australia with an interest in understanding where the uranium sector is heading and what that could mean for industry. What does uranium exploration in Queensland actually look like today?

That’s one of the conversations we want to have at the Connecting Uranium Forum Queensland, and we’re pleased to welcome Pete Moorhouse, Managing Director of Basin Energy (ASX:BSN), to Gladstone on 25 November. Pete brings more than 20 years of mineral exploration experience across Australia, Southern Africa and Europe, including extensive experience in the junior uranium sector.

Before joining Basin Energy, he spent more than a decade with ASX-listed Alligator Energy, leading exploration and helping advance uranium projects in the Northern Territory and South Australia. His career has also included work with Laramide Resources, Mega Uranium and Aeon Metals.

At Basin Energy, Pete is leading a company exploring the Sybella–Barkly Project in North West Queensland, adding an important on-the-ground perspective to our forum.

His presentation, “Exploring Queensland’s Next Uranium Province: The Sybella–Barkly Opportunity”, will look at what Basin is seeing through its exploration activities and the potential of the region.

But there’s another part of the conversation that makes Pete’s perspective particularly interesting.

Exploration doesn't happen in isolation. Investment, policy, geological potential and confidence in the future direction of a jurisdiction all influence where companies commit their time and capital.
