Sam Says Social Media and Content Management
Creating stand out social and online content for SMEs

Did you know there’s over 3.8 billion active social media users worldwide? This means that it’s highly probably that your ideal customer is waiting for you online. Is your content marketing up to the challenge of cutting through the noise to reach your client? It’s no surprise that in the demands of every day business life, online marketing is something that slips down the priority list of busy en

trepreneurs. Some people aren’t natural online marketers, and some flat out hate that aspect of running a business and would much rather focus their efforts on what it is they do best. Sam Says is an online marketing consultancy that works with people to increase their visibility online, enhance their credibility through a consistent message and help drive their business growth through greater brand recognition. For over 15 years, Sam McFarlane has worked with corporate organisations across a variety of industries and sectors providing specialist marketing support. In 2012, she launched Sam Says to support small businesses to build their online profile. Her clients include both service product-based businesses and beyond her social media management and content services she is a highly sought after speaker, interviewee and guest blogger.

On Friday 26 June I am speaking at 's Lock Yourself In and Get Your Marketing Done Day in Coburg — a full day designed to help women in business stop putting their marketing off and actually get it done, in a room full of other people doing the same thing.

I will be there talking social media strategy alongside the brilliant Anna Ramondetta and marketing strategist Maria Surace (). It will be structured focus time, real conversations, good food, and a venue that happens to be inside the converted Pentridge Prison (yes, really).

If your marketing keeps slipping to the bottom of the to-do list, this is your sign to finally lock in time to get it done.

I’m excited to be part of Get Your Marketing Done Day with Alumni XX Women - a dedicated day for women in business to step away from the day-to-day, focus on their marketing, and make real progress.

We’ll be covering strategy, content, social media, messaging, lead generation and those marketing tasks that have been sitting on your list for far too long.

It’s not just another workshop where you leave with more notes. This is a practical working day with expert guidance, focused work blocks, idea generation huddles, connection and accountability.

📍 Chapter Place, Coburg
📅 Friday 26 June 2026
⏰ 9:30am – 4:30pm, with networking from 8:45am

I’ll be joining Anna Ramondetta and Maria Surace for the Marketing for Growth session, and I’d love to see you there.

Some businesses want us to handle everything when it comes to social media. Others just need a hand with the content side of things. And honestly? Both are completely fine by us.

That might look like full social media management, where we handle the strategy, the content, the posting, and everything in between so it is completely off your plate. Or it might just be content creation, giving you polished, on-brand posts ready to go so you are not staring at a blank caption at 9pm on a Tuesday.

So if social media is the thing that keeps getting pushed to the bottom of your to-do list, or the thing you are doing but not really enjoying, let's have a chat. First conversation is free, and we promise it is much more fun than writing your own captions! 👇

Hiding your likes on Instagram? It might actually be working against you 👀

When people see a post with engagement, they're psychologically more likely to engage with it too. It's a snowball effect, and hiding likes stops it before it starts.

Not to mention, if you hide likes on your quieter posts but leave them visible on the ones that did well, people notice the inconsistency, and it can feel like you're trying to manage perception.

For smaller accounts especially, a few likes is completely normal. Showing them openly signals confidence, while hiding them can signal the opposite 🙈

The one exception? If you're hiding likes on every single post because the numbers stress you out, that is a completely valid reason. Your mental health comes first, always 💛

Otherwise, leave your likes visible and let your content do its thing.
