Last month I had the privilege of speaking at the Hornsby Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours alongside the brilliant Preeti Dey from SPOD Tech.

My talk centred on something I genuinely believe is the most important shift happening for local service businesses right now. Before a customer contacts you today they have already Googled you, read your reviews, checked your website, and scrolled your social media. Trust is built before the conversation even starts. And if your digital presence doesn't reflect the quality of your business, you're losing leads without ever knowing it.

We covered the five things every local service business needs to have working together in 2026 visibility on Google, trust signals that convert browsers into enquiries, social media done simply and consistently, ads that target the right intent, and a follow-up system that means no lead ever falls through the cracks.

Preeti then walked the room through where AI actually fits in a small business not the hype, not the technical jargon, just a clear practical framework for taking the right first step without wasting time or money on the wrong one.

Showing up differently in 2026. 🙌

I go to a lot of events. But I rarely post about them. No photos. No captions. No “great to be here” content.

Someone recently told me “Isuru, you’re everywhere but you’re invisible online.”

Fair. And a little ironic for someone who runs a digital marketing agency.
