We’ve been generating publicity for food and wine festival Taste Great Southern since 2017 and it’s always lots of fun working alongside Richard Campbell and the CMS Events team. Allen is now back from a hectic five days of events in the deep south and we’re reflecting on the success of helping to create greater awareness of the region’s attraction as a food and wine tourism destination – and to sell some tickets to the more than 40 individual events that make up the festival, all squeezed into 11 days in May. NGC has helped to generate nearly 200 media pieces across print, digital, television and radio in the past few months.
We’re pretty happy with the result.

Thank you to ABC Great Southern for chatting with Gary Mehigan about his first visit to Taste Great Southern. See Gary at the Albany Farmers' Market tomorrow morning from 9am to 10am where he will wander around selecting wonderful produce from the vendors and then whipping up something delicious.

Helen Ganska and I do a fair bit of pro bono work and we're happy to do our bit for the community, but it is lovely when you get recognition for the work you do. I've been on the Board at the WA Police and Community Youth Centres for more than 10 years and was presented with a certificate to say thanks by His Excellency Chris Dawson APM, Governor of Western Australia and Commissioner of Police, Col Blanch APM who along with Minister for Police, Paul Papalia CSC MLA recognised the efforts of many working with PCYC on the day.

What an amazing evening spent at Liberte at Waste Great Southern as part of Taste Great Southern. The entire menu was created from food that is often thrown away - either in the kitchen or at the producer. From runt Akoya from Leeuwin Coast which made an amazing soup to veg from Bathgate Farm which would have been thrown away in the compost - rejected fish, windswept lemons, stale bread from Bredco, lamb chuck which wasn't chucked and so much more.. Wines from Brave New World Wine and La Violetta Wines and beer from Artisan Brewing. The amazing menu was whipped up by the three waste musketeers, Guy Jeffrey's from the Fogarty Wine Group and Millbrook Winery; Amy Hamilton from Liberte and Melissa Palinkas from Young George and Ethos Deli + Dining Room and their wonderful staff in the kitchen and congrats to the fabulous waitstaff. And Max Veenhuyzen from Broadsheet Perth was the MC for the evening. Now to start planning for next year.

Care and Ageing Well Expo Perth off to a flying start with Welcome to Country from Uncle Ben Taylor and family, and opening addresses from Liz Behjat from Leading Aged Services, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Seniors and Ageing, Kyle McGinn and Christine Allen from Council on the Ageing. Great working with CMS Events, Richard Campbell and the team and looking forward to Melbourne in February.
