I’ve been all over the place this week, but I spent Wednesday at the Victorian State Merino Field Day in Marnoo! What a great community day. There was more than just sheep there and it was so good to see many familiar faces.

I spent a very small amount of time as a rousie many years ago and Rocky Reichelt, in the first photo, was usually shearing. He loves AC/DC and it has to be so LOUD you can’t hear yourself think 😂 I honestly believe shearing is one of the hardest jobs in the world!

A great day celebrating the Merino industry and the people who make it happen. Well done to all involved 🐑

When I first heard about the VNI West transmission line project, I was curious. I wanted to understand what it was all about.

I’ve watched it play out in my own community here in St Arnaud for the last four years.

I’ve seen the uncertainty, frustration and division and the impact it is having on people’s lives and wellbeing.

The more I’ve watched, listened and learned, the more concerned I’ve become.

Somewhere amongst the maps, policies and arguments, I feel the people have been forgotten.

These are real people with real concerns and uncertainty about their futures.

Mental health and wellbeing matters. That’s why I took the footage and shared the video. It’s had over 2 million views and countless messages from all over Australia and the world.

None of this is a complaint.

It’s just a reminder that everyone has things going on in the background that people don’t see.

If you’re feeling like everyone else has it all figured out, remember you’re probably only seeing the highlight reel.

One of my favourite parts of my work is helping tell stories that matter.

Last year, I worked alongside Melissa from MP Media, Amy and the team at Vic No-Till to create From the Ground Down, a short film about their Soils for All Seasons project.

Filmed at Avenel, Victoria, the film highlights the power of farmers helping farmers through shared knowledge and practical ideas. It’s also the theme of Vic No Till’s conference coming up in September!

I really enjoyed working on this and learnt so much about soil! A big thank you to Amy, Melissa and everyone involved for trusting me to help tell this story 🌱
