I know a lot of my clients and fellow web designers can find this a bit scary or complicated and it doesn’t have to be! I’m hoping my talk will help you understand it better so you can walk away with something clear and actionable 💪

Wanna know how I ended up in website design and SEO? 💃

What started as an unplanned career shift from marketing turned into a business I love, combining design, strategy, and SEO to help women in biz build websites that not only look beautiful, but actually get found by Google and AI!

I’m super passionate about supporting women who are following their dreams and creating financial independence on their own terms. It’s something I’m really proud of in my own life.

This is one of the reasons I’m so excited to be speaking at the Women of Web Summit this year! ☀️ I’m demystifying technical SEO for website owners… it’s the scary bit that everyone hates dealing with!

Want to hear me talk about my favourite tips on prepping your site for Google and AI search?

Well, I’m excited to announce I’ll be speaking at this year’s Women of Web Summit, running from 25–29 May! ✨

It’s completely free to attend (whoop whoop) and packed with amazingly talented women sharing practical tips and advice across all things web design, SEO and digital strategy.

In my session, I’ll be breaking down the four technical SEO priorities every web designer and business owner should understand to help their websites get found in both Google and AI Search:

☀️ indexing

☀️ speed

☀️ site structure

☀️ AI-friendly content

My goal is to make technical SEO feel much less overwhelming and give you practical steps you can implement straight away.

I’ll also be hosting a live SEO Basics co-working session at the end of the summit, where you can put some of these ideas into action on your own site!

Anyone else had a chaotic start to this year? 🤪

I’m so bloody proud of my business, but wow, the last few months have had me under the pump:

12 website launches in 4 months.
Local and overseas clients.
Approximately 47 million unread emails.
Admin? Yeah, nah.
Accounts? Forgotten.

Add in trying to stay fit, healthy (hello perimenopause) play soccer at 43 (hello nearly ruptured ATFL 🫣), be present with my boys, and try to make an effort to find some downtime and it’s been absolute madness.

Anyhoo, this is just a post to say hey there fellow business owners. I see you, I understand you and it’s ok to shut that laptop at 5pm on a Friday, put your feet up and enjoy a cuddle on the couch with your dog (which is totally what I’m doing).

PS: this lovely branded photo for attention and to hide my tired eyes behind today 😂

👉 How was your week???

The way your customers search is changing people, which means the way you structure your website content needs to change too.

I’ve been deep in SEO/AEO presentation prep this week and one thing keeps coming up: AI tools LOVE clear, structured content that’s easy-to-extract content.

So here are 5 quick ways to make your website more AI-friendly ✨

The best thing? You can check your site and apply these tips yourself!

(I’ll be sharing a whole lot more on this in an upcoming talk very soon 👀)

This is a quick check you can do to see if your website structure is prepped to rank in Google and get featured in AI searches 💪

Lots of small business owners still pick one keyword for their website (usually their service description) and just chuck it across all their pages in the headers, page titles and content.

This isn’t going to cut it in 2026, peeps.

✨ With AI search it’s more important than ever for the content on your website to be clearly sorted into topic pages (what we call content clusters) and have valuable, unique information on each page that answers what the searcher is looking for.

This is because (in a nutshell):

〰️ Google crawls your pages to understand the content, then indexes them ready to show relevant content to a searcher.

〰️ AI tools don’t crawl your website but pull this information from search engine indexes to generate their answers.

✨ The more specific your content is, the easier it is for Google to index it, and for AI to feature it in snippets.

This is why it’s still important to understand what your audience is searching for (keyword research) then use this data-driven insight to create clear topics for each page of your website 💃

For example if you’re a counsellor, some of your clear content clusters might include:

- Melbourne Counsellor
- Anxiety Counselling
- Relationship Counselling
- Grief Counselling
- Trauma Counselling

You can see how, instead of having all this content on one page, you can have five clear pages with dedicated content that targets a specific search. Rather than diluting your efforts by having it all on one page 😬

⚡️ Action step: Take a look at each page of your website and make a note of what the content is about. If it’s not clear, or is covering 5 different topics, it might be time for some changes.

Anyone else been going down the same AI rabbithole rollercoaster as me recently ⤵️

Job losses – reduced originality in everything you read – increased opportunity for people to write their own content, no matter the academic skill level – automated military weapons (yikes) – medical science improvements – more loneliness online as people rely on their chat mates – getting rid of boring admin tasks (yay) – the loss of the em dash (boo).

There are so many aspects to this new AI age that are going to blow our minds, but also there’s a lot of it that freaks me out 🤯

One thing that keeps coming back to me is this quote from Simon Sinek:

✨ Human beings want human experiences.
✨They want imperfections.

This is more important than ever. There’s (varying) research saying internet use and interest in socials is declining for the first time ever and I totally get it. I’m over seeing the same old content being turned out 👊

I listened to a Diary of a CEO podcast and he explained it well: it used to be a craft, creating content that offers value and builds your community. Now you can churn out a years worth of social posts in 5 seconds.

So when it comes to your biz, your website and your socials: remember to share the part of your service that is human. 💚 People have always wanted to buy from people.

Think about that with your website content:

✔️ Include a photo of your face.

✔️ Tell your personal story of how your biz came to be.

✔️ Read your copy and make sure it sounds like you, not filled with fluff and redundant words.

✔️ Be cheeky: if you swear in real life add a swear word or 2 to your pages (with some restraint 😉)

✔️ Be vulnerable: share stories that make you relatable.

✔️ Do it messy: It doesn’t need to be picture perfect. Customers love to see that you can be just like them. It helps them relate to you, trust you, and ultimately buy from you.

Ok. That’s my AI rant over 😁

👉 Would love to hear if you’re thinking along the same lines.

I often have clients ask what system I use for my own client management, as they can see how streamlined and branded it is.

So, this is a big shout to Dubsado! 💪

When I started out, I just used word documents, a spreadsheet and the Notes app on my phone. It worked but I was spending so much time on admin. So, a few years ago I decided to go for it and invest in .

To say it’s improved my business is an understatement. Not only have I got soooo many hours back to work ON my business instead of managing the juggle of admin.

But it’s more than that: I don’t have to worry that I’ve missed something, I know I can find any info I need from my clients’ onboarding with a click of the button, I can gather all the content I need through setting up epic workflows and… drum roll please 🥁 I never have to chase an invoice!

My onboarding looks something like this (all done through Dubsado):

〰️ enquiry form on my website, which ⤵️
〰️ creates a project with the client details
〰️ sends a welcome email with details of how I work
〰️ sends my scheduler for a zoom call.

Once the call is done, it all goes through my next workflows and sends:

〰️ the proposal and contract
〰️ commencement invoice
〰️ scheduler to book project date
〰️ style questionnaire
〰️ reminders up to our project date for content.

Once the job is complete, it the sends out:

〰️ final invoice (and, once paid ⤵️)
〰️ site mock ups
〰️ handover docs
〰️ feedback questionnaire
〰️ follow up check ins a week and month later.

The best part?! I can edit every email before it goes out to customise per client AND look how pretty my questionnaires look ☺️

Dubsado have their fab annual sale on at the moment, so if you’re keen to give it a whirl and want my discount code, say ‘I want my time back’ in the comments 💃
